A RESOLUTION OJ,' THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OJ? THE
CITY OF VERNON DECLARING THEIR INTENTION TO
ORDER CERTAIN '!lORK AND IMPROVEMENT TO BE MADE
AS HEHEINAFTER SET FORTH AND DESCRIBING THE
DISTRICT TO BE ASSESSED TO PAY THE COST AND
EXPENSE OF SAID IMPROVEMElTT.

The Board of Trustees do resolve as follows:
Section 1. That public interest and convenience re-
10 quire and it is the intention of the Board of Trustees of the
11 City of Vernon, to order the following street work done or
12 improvement to be made in said city, to-wit:

That Santa Fe Avenue in said City from the north
City boundary line to the south City boundary line be
improved in the following manner:
(a) That Santa Fe Avenue between said limite be
graded and paved with a 3 inch crushed rock sub-base,
a 6-1/2 inch asphalt concrete base of two l~erB
3-1/2 inch and 3 inch respeetive1y in thickness, and
a 1-1/2 inch asphalt concrete wearing surface (except
the area covered by the existing pavement on the east
side of Santa Fe Avenue from the center line of
Fruitland Road to the south City boundary line and
between a point two feet east of the east rail of the
east track of the Los Angeles Railway and the present east
gutter line and the existing pavement on the west
side of Santa Fe Avenue, from the center line of
Center Avenue to the south City boundary line between
a point two feet west of the west rail of the west
track of the Los Angeles Railway and the existing
west gutter line of said street) also that the road-
way of:
East 25th Street, between the westerly line of
Santa Fe Avenue and ten feet westerly therefrom, also
that the roadway of:
East 26th Street hetween the easterly line of
Santa Fe Avenue and a point fifteen feet easterly
therefrom, also t~t the roadway of:
East 27th Street, from the east line of Santa Fe
to a point fifteen feet easterly therefrom and from
the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to a point ten feet
westerly therefrom, also that the roadway of:
East 28th Street, from the east line of Santa Fe
Avenue to a point fifteen feet easterly therefrom,
also that the roadway of:
East 37th Street, from the east line of Santa Fe
Avenue to a point ten feet easterly therefrom and
from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to a point ten
feet westerly therefrom, also that the roadway of:

East 38th Street, from the west line of Santa Fe
Avenue to a point ten feet westerly therefrom, also
that the roadway of:
East VernonAvenue~ from the east line of Santa
Fe Avenue to a point ten feet easterly therefrom, also
the roadway of:
East Vernon.Avenue, from the west line of Santa
Fe Avenue to a point twenty feet westerly therefrom,
also that the roadway of East 51st Street, from the
west line of Santa Fe Avenue to a point ten feet west-
erly therefrom be graded and paved with a 6-1/2 inch
asphalt concrete base in two layers of 3-1/2 inch and
3 inch respectively, in thickness~ and a 1-1/2 inch
asphalt concrete wearing surface in accordance with
specifications No. 18 and plans, profiles and cross-
section No. 186 of said City.
(b) That cement concrete curbs be constructed
along the sides of the roadway space of Santa Fe
Avenue between said limits together with curb returns
at all intersecting streets in accordance with speci-
fications No.9 and plan, profile and cross-sections
No. 186 of said City.
(c) That cement concrete gutters one foot in
width be constructed along the sides of the roadway
space of Santa Fe Avenue between said limits in
accordance with specifications No. 10 and plan and
profile and cross-sections No. 186 of said City.
(d) That cement concrete sidewalks of the width
shown on the plan be constructed along the sides of
Santa Fe Avenue adjacent to the property lines
(except where already constructed to line and grade)
in accordance with specifications No. 19 and plan,
profile and cross-sections No. 186 of said City.
The grade that all of the proposed work is to be
constructed to is that shown upon said plan, profile
and cross-section No. 186 of said City.
There is excepted from this improvement such
portions of said street as are used ny any railroad,
or railway track or tracks, the space between the
rails, and for two feet on each side thereof, and be-
tween the tracks if there be more tilan one.

All specifications herein referred to are on
file in the office of the City Clerk of said City and
are made a part hereof.
~_e2~ion 2. That said contemplated work or improve-
ment is in the opinion of the Board of Trustees of the City
of Vernon of more than local or ordinary benefit; that said
Board of Trustees hereby makes the cost and expense of said
work or improvement chargeable upon a district,which district

fited by said work or improvement and to be assessed to pay the
cost and expense thereof, which district is bounded and described
as follows:
ALL that territory included within the colored
boundary line as indicated on Map No. l86-B of the
City of Vernon, and designated "Pla.t showing
assessment district for the improvement of Santa Fe
Avenue 11.
The above description is general only. A plat or map of said
district indicating by the boundary lines the extent of the
territory included in the proposed district is on file in the
office of the City Engineer. Reference is hereby made to said
plat or map for a further full and complete description of
said assessment district. The said plat or map there on file
shall govern for all details as to the extent of said assess-
ment district.
Section 3~ The said Board of Trustees also determines
and declares that serial bonds bearing interest at the rate of
seven per oent (7%) per annum shall be issued to represent each
assessment of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) or more remaining
unpaid for twenty (20) days after the date of the warrant, said
serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years
from the second day of January next succeeding the 15th day of
the next Novenber following their date. Payment of the princi-
pal of unpaid assessments and interest shall be made by property
owners to the City Treasurer and same shall be disbursed by him,
all as provided in "The Improvement Act of 1911".
Section 4. That on Tuesday. the 15th dalf of June,
1925, at the hour of ten o'clock A.IiI. in the Council Chanib3 rs
of the Board 01 Trustees of said City of Vernon, in the City
Hall of said city, situate on the northwest corner of East
38th street and Irving Street any and all persons having any
objections to the proposed work or improvement as herein
described may appear before said Board of Trustees and show
cause why said proposed work or improvement should not be

1 carried out in accordance with this resolution. Said protest
2 shall be in writing and filed with the City Clerk of said

Board in said City at or prior to the time set for said hear-
ing as herein provided.
Section 5. There being no daily, semi-weekly or
weekly newspaper published in said City of Vernon, the City
Clerk of said city shall certify to the passage of this reso-

lution and is hereby directed to cause a true and correct copy
of this reolution of intention to be published twice in the
"Huntington Park Signal" a weekly newspaper of general circu-
lation published in the City of IIuntington Park, County of
Los Angeles, State of California, in which county the City of
Vernon is located, which newspaper is hereby designated for
the purpose of the publication of this resolution of intention.
Section 6.
The Street Superintendent of the City
of Vernon shall cause to be conspicuously posted along the
line of said contemplated work or improvement, and in front
of all property liable to be assesced to pay the cost and
expense of said improvement, notice of the passage of this
resolution in the manner and form required by law.
Section 7.
All of the herein proposed work or im-
provement shall be done in pursuance of an Act of the Legisla-
ture of the State of California. designated and known as "The
Improvement Act of 1911" and Acts Supplementary thereto or
Amendatory thereof.
Adopted and approved this 19th day of May, 1925.
