RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OJ? TRUSTEES OF THE
CITY OF VERNON ORDERING CERTAIN ':TORK TO BE
DONE AlID I1~ROVJI:!ENT TO BE MADE AS HEillLIU-

The Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon do resolve
as follows:
\VHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon
did on the 7th day of September, 1926, at a regular meeting of said
Board, duly pass and adopt its Resolution of Intention No. 460,
declaring its intention to order the hereinafter described work
to be done or improvement to be made in said City, which Resolution
of Intention was duly and legally published as required by law,
as appears from the affidavit of J. A. Bowen, the publiSher of
the Huntington Park Signal, now on file in the office of the City
Clerk of said City; and
WHER&AS, after the adoption of s aid Resolution of
Intention, to-wit: on the 29th day of September, 1926, notice of

the passage of said Resolution was conspicuously posted along
the line of said contemplated work or. improvement in front of
all property liable to be assessed therefor, and at not more
than 300 feet in distance apart, in the manner and form as re-
quired by law, as appears from the affidavit of T. J. Furlong,
Street Superintendent of the City of Vernon, who personally posted
s~ae. and who upon the completion of said posting of said notices
forthwith made and filed his affidavit in the office of the City
Clerk of said City of Vernon, making oath that he had completed the
posting of said notices on the 29th day of September, 1926; and
Wl~. no abjections in writing having been made
or delivered at the time or in the manner required by law, or
otherwise, the Board of Trustees having now acquired jurisdiction

to order the proposed work to be done or improvement to be made.
said Board of Trustees does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1: That the public interest and convenience
require and the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon does
hereby order the following improvement to be made:
That Slauson Avenue in said City from the center
line of Boyle Avenue to the west line of Downey Road be
improved in the following manner:
(a.) That said street between said limits be
graded and the roadway thereof paved with an a.sphal t
concrete pavement eight inches in thickness.
(b) That a cement concrete curb be constructed
along the south side of the roadway of said street
together with a curb return at the southeast corner
of the intersection of Boyle and Slauson Avenues.
and curb returns at the southwest and southeast
corner of the intersection of the proposed extension
of Magnolia A~enue and said Slauson Avenue.
(cl That a cement concrete gutter one foot in
width and nine inches in thickness be constructed
along the south side of the roadway of said street.
provided, however, that the gutter shall be widened
to a width of two feet across the intersection of
Boyle Avenue, the center line of said two foot
Gutter shall be the south curb line produced westerly
(excepting therefrom the gutter from a point ten feet
west of the west line to a point ten feet east of the
east line of the intersection of the proposed exten-
sion of Magnolia Avenue with Slauson Avenue).
Cd} That a reinforced concrete culvert be con-
structed along the south side of said street at its
crossing with the Union Pacific Railroad spurs from
a point 487.59 feet east of the east line of Boyle
Avenue, easterly 103.5 feet. Also that reinforced
concrete culverts be constructed at the intersection
of Slauson Avenue with the proposed extension of
Magnolia Avenue. Also 12 inch No. 10 gauge corru-
gated iron pipe culverts be installed along the north
line of said street at the intersection of Boyle Avenue
and at said spur track crossings.

from the east curb line of Boyle Avenue to the west curb
line of the proposed Magnolia Avenue, and from the east cur
line of said Magnolia A.venue to the west line of Do\mey Roa
provided, however, that the walk shall ce extended to cover
the entire area between the curb return and the produced si
~ines of the street at the southeast corner of the inter-
section of Boyle and Slauson Avenue.

The grade to which the work shall be done and the
improvement made which is provided for in this Resolution
of Intention shall be that shown on the plans and profiles
hereinafter referred to.
That all the foregoing work and improvement shall be
done in accordance with plan. profile and cross-section
No. 239 on file in the office of the City Engineer, and
further in accordance with specifications No. 18 for the
construction of pavement, No. 9 for the construction of
curbs, No. 10 for the construction of gutters, and No. 19
for the construction of sidewalks, allan file in the
office of the City Clerk.
Said plan, profile, cross-section and specifications
heretofore approved by said Board of Trustees are incorpor-
ated herein and made a part hereof and reference is hereby
made thereto for a more complete description of said work
as to location and dimensions thereof.
Section 2: That said contemplated work or improvement
is in the opinion of the Board of Trustees of the City of Vernon
of more than local or ordinary benefit; that said Board of
Trustees hereby makes the cost and expense of said work or im-
provement chargea.ble upon a district, which district said Board
of Trustees hereby declares to be the district benefited by
said work or improvement and to be assessed to pay the cost and
expense thereof~ which district is bounded and described as
follows:
All the land lying within the red boundary line
as shown on a map on file in the office of the City
Engineer of said City. numbered 239-A and titled
"Map showing assessment district for the improvement
of Slauson Avenue.n ~~cepting therefrom any of said
land which may be included within the lines of any
public street or alley.
The above description is general only.
A plat or map
of said district indicating by the boundary lines the extent of the
territory included in the proposed district is on file in the

Section 3: The said Board of Trustees also determines
and declares that serial bonds bearing interest at the rate of
seven per cent (7%) per anmun shall te issued to represent each
assessment of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) or more remaining un-
paid for twenty (20) days after the date of the warrant, said
serial bonds shall extend over a period ending nine (9) years
from the second day of ~anuary next succeeding the 15th day of
the next November following their date. Payment of the principal
of unpaid assessments and interest shall be made by property
owners to the City Treasurer and same shall be disbursed by him,
all as provided in ItThe Improvement Act of 1911.-
Section 4: For further particulars reference 1s hereby
made to said Resolution of Intention No. 460 of said City now on
file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Vernon. in the
City Hall of said City.
Section 5: The City Clerk is hereby ordered to post
notices inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing the described
work, together with the specifications therefor conspicuously
for five days on or near the council chamber door of the Board
of Trustees of the City of Varnon.
