RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF VERNON ORDERING CERTAIN WORK TO BEl DONE

The City Council of the City of Vernon do resolve
as follows:
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon
did on the 3rd day of ~anuary, 1928, at a regular meeting of
said Council, duly pass and adopt its Resolution of Intention
No. 509, declaring its intention to order the hereinafter

of J.A. Bowen, the publisher of the Huntington Park Signal,
now on file in the office of the City Clerk of said City; and
WHEREAS, after the adoption of said Resolution of
Int ent ion, to -wi t. on the 18th day of Janua.ry. 1928, not ice
of the passage of said Resolution was conspicuously posted
along the line of said contemplated work or im~rovement in
front of all property liable to be assessed therefor, and at
not more than 300 feet in distance apart. in the manner and
23 form as required by law, as appears from the affidavit of
24 T. J. Furlong, Street Superintendent of the City of Vernon,

who personally posted same, and who upon the completion of

said posting of said notices forthwith made and filed his

to order the proposed work to be done or improvement to be
made. said City Council does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1:
That the public interest and convenience
require and the City Council of the City of Vernon does hereby
order the following ~rovement to be made:
Ca} That said street between said limits be
graded and the roadway thereof be paved with an asphalt
concrete pavement eight (8) inches in thickness.
(b) That a cement concrete curb be constructed
along the north side of the roadway of said street be-
tween said limits and along the south side of the roadway
of said street from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to a
point 769.73 feet east of the easterly line of Alameda
Street.
(c) That a cement concrete gutter one foot in
wid~ be constructed along the north side of the roadway
of said avenue between said limits. and along the south
side thereof from the west line of Santa Fe Avenue to a
point 769.73 feet east of the easterly line of Alameda
street.. at which point the gutter shall cross to the north
side of the street at a width of two :feet .as shown on
the plans therefor.
Cd} That six inch vitrified clay pipe sewer
~terals be constructed from the main sewer to the prop-
erty lines at the locations shown on the plans.
(e) The grade to which the work shall be done
and improvement made which is provided for in this
Resolution of Intention shall be that shown on the plans
and profiles hereinafter referred to.

That all the foregoing work and improvement shall

221 be done in accordance with the plans, profiles and cross-

sections No. 201, on file in the office of the City Engineer
24 and further in accordance with specifications No. 18 for the
25 construction of asphalt concrete pavement. No. 9 for the con-
26 atruction of curbs. No. 10 for the construction of gutters.
27 and No. 12 for the construction of sewers. all on file in

that said
City Council hereby makes the cost and expense of said work
or improvement chargeable upon a. district. which district said
City Council hereby declares to be the district benefited by
said work or improvement and to be assessed to pay the cost
a.nd expense thereof. which district is bounded and described
as follows:
All of the land lying within the red boundary line
as sho\vu on a map or plat on file in the offioe of
the City Engineer of said City. numbered 20lA and
titled WoPlat showing Assessment District for the
Improvement of Topeka. Avenue in the City of Vernon.p

Reference is hereby

map there on file shall govern for all details as to the ex-
tent of said assessment district.
Sect ion 3:
The said City Council also determines
and declares that serial bonds bearing interest at the rate
of seven per cent (7%) per annum shall be issued to represent
eaoh assesament of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) or more re-

warrant. said serial bonds shall extend over a periOd ending

Sect ion 5:
The City Clerk is hereby ordered to
post notices inviting sealed proposals or bids for doing the
described work. together with the specifications therefor con-
spicuously for five days on or near the council chamber door
of the City Council of the City of Vernoh.
Adopted and approved this 6th day of February, 1928.
