The City Council of the City of Vernon does resolve;

on the 2Iat day of Jul.y, 1930, at a regular meeting of' said
Cit.y Counail, duly pass and ado:Pt: its Resolution of Intention,
No. 5.96, deala.l'ing ita intention to order the. hereinafter
described work to be done or imp.rovement to be made in said
city, which Resolution of Intention was duly and regul.arly
published, as requixed by law, as a1>pea-rs from the affi.da.vit
of Jewel Jlorgan, Chief Clerk to the publisher- of the Huntington

WHEREAS, after the adoption of said Resolution of
Intention., to-wit., on t.he 2J.st day of July, 1930, not ice of
the passage of said Resolution was c_~nspicuousl.y posted along
the lines of said contemplated work or improvement in front
of all propert.y liable to be asaesBed therefor and at no:t
more than three hundred feet in distance apart in the
manner and form as required by 1&w, as appears from the a:.f-
fidavit of T. J. Furlong, Street Superintendent of the C"ity
of Vernon, who personally posted same and who, upon the com-
pletion of the posting of said notice, forthwith made and
filed, his affidavit in the office of the City Clerk of said
01 ty of Vernon making oath tha.t he completed the post ing of
said notices on the 4th day of Auguat, ~930; and

WHEREA.S, no objection in writing having been made
or delivered at the time or in the manner required by law,
or otherwise, the City Council now having acquired juris-
diction to order the proposed work to be done or improvement
to be made, said City Council does hereby rea.o~ve as fol~owa:
SECTION I.
That public int.erest and convenience require, and
the City Counci~ of the aity of Vernon does hereby order;
the fol~owing improvement to be made, t.o-wit:
Ca) That East Fifty-fourth Street, between 801.0
Street and Boyle Avenue be graded and certain portions of "the
roadway thereof, paved with asphaltic concrete pavement e.ight
inches in thicknesa, and that cement conc:rete gutter be <ton.-
structed along the center and across. said roadway and that
cement concrete curbs be constructed a.long the pr'operty linea
of said East Fifty-fourth street continuing to include the
curb returns within the intersection. of said East Fifty-fourth
Street with Boyle Avenue, all as shown on. the pans hereinaf'ter
referred to.
(b) That a Olasa "DIt cast. iron pipe .wa.'ter main, vary-
ing in diameter from eight inches to six inches, together with
valves, fittings, hydrants for fire protection and a-ppurtenances
be constructed in East Fifty-fourth Street and iilie interseC'ction
thereof wit.h Boyle Avenue, between the existing ma..1n at Soto
Street and the existing main in Boyle Avenue, a.~l as shown on
the plans hereinafter referred to.
There is hereby excepted from all of the herein~

plana, in further accflrdance with Specifications No. 20 for
the Construc'tion of J.sIJha.1.tic Concrete :Pavement. Specifica-
tions No. 10 for the Construction of Cement Concrete Gutter,
S:pecifica.tions No. 9 for the Construct.ion of cement Conereta
Curb, andSpecificatians No. 24 far the Construction a.1' Ca..:t
