A RESOLU'IION OF THE CITY COTJNCIL OF THE CITY OF VITGWN HEQUEST-
ING THE UNITED ST.A'l'ES POST OF}?ICE DEPAHTMENT TO ERECT' A POST
OFFICE BUILDING IN THE CITY OF VERNON
THE CITC COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DO~~S RESOLVE AS F'OLLO\ffS:
THNl' WHEREAS, the Federal Govermnent does not own a
post office building within tte City of Vernon; and
WHEREAS, the receip.ts of the branch post office now
in said City exceed $100,000.00 per annum; and
WFillPiliAS, it is the opinion of the City Council of
the City of Vernon that it would be to the best interest of
the citizens and manufa.cturers of tbe City of Vernon for the
Federal Government to OlVll its own post office building
centl'>ally located within the City of Vernon;
NOW, TFillREFOHE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1: Tbat the Ci t~T Council of the C:tty of
Vernon is of the opinion that it would be for the best pub-
lie interest for the Federal Government to ovm a building
centrally located to house the Vernon Branerl of the Los
Angeles Post Office;
Section 2: That the City Council of the Cit~r of
Vernon respectfully requests the United States Post Office
Department to erect a post office build.ing to be centl'ally
located w:tthin the corporate limits of the City of Vernon
to house the Vernon Branch of the Lc)s Angeles Post Office;
Section 3: That the Cit:y Clerk shall cel'>tj_fy
to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and t here-
after the same shall be in full force a.nd effect.
Seetion 4: That the City Clerk sha11 send a
certified copy of this resolution to the United ~tates Post
Office Department, Washington, D. C., to Eon. William G.
McAdoo, United States Senator, and to Representative Chal'les
