RESOLUTION NO. 988
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CIrY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING
THE PURCHASE OF ONE U. S. ELECTRIC MOTOR FROM R. A. REED ELECTRIC
CO., AT A PRICE OF $538.37, COIVIPLETE IN PLACE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has requested the im-
mediate purchase of an electric motor for City's water well
No.2, and it is necessary that the same be purchased at once
to protect the city f~oma disaster, to-wit, the running short
of water for fire, public and domestic purposes; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has consulted with Mr.
Carl Hein2:e,consulting electrical engineer and with Mr. Wayne
Johnson, Manager of the Southern California Edison Company, who
recommended the replacement of the old motor with a new one; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer did secure three bids
for the replacement of said motor, which said three bids are as
follows: Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co., $662.00,
complete in place, they to have the old motor; General Electric
Company, $758.72, complete in place, City to retain old motor;.and
R. A. Reed Electric Co., $538.37, complete in place, they to have
old motor,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1: That the City Council declare and de-
tennine that the public interest and necessity demands the immed-
iate expenditure of public money to safegard life, health and
property.
Section 2: That the City Engineer, in th.e 118Jneof-
the City, is hereby authorized, instructed and empowered to pur-
chase one U. S. Electric Motor from R. A. Reed Electric Co. at a
price of $538.37, complete in place, they to have the old motor.
Section 3: That the City Clerk shall certify to

the passage of this resolution, and thereupon and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
