A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON INQUIRING
FROM THE OFFICIALS OF THE SANTA FE RAILWAY CO. ~ THE REASON WH Y
THEY COULD NOT TRUST THE .CITY OF VERNON.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

.THAT WHEREAS, one of the members of the City CounciJL
of the City of Vernon, duly appointed to act for the City in
the matter wherein the Federal Government, Los Angeles Coun~y
Flood Control District, Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway

Co., Union Pacific Railway Co., and the City of Vernon were

interested; and

WHEREAS, at a meeting in the City of Los Angeles,
13
where all parties interested were present; and
14
WHEREAS, at said meeting the representative of the
City of Vernon presented a plan that was in his opinion of
15

mutual interest to all concerned; and
17
WHEREAS, at said meeting when all, of said rep:resentatives
were present, the representative of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa
Fe Railway at said time and place, the City's representative asked.
the Atchison, Topeka representative why they could not approve it

and he said, the reason was, that they could not trust the City of
Vernon. The representative of the' City further asked, "Could you
trust any other City?", and the answer of the Atchison, Topeka
and Santa Fe Railway representative was "Yes"; and
W1illREAS, it is of the opinion of all the members of the
City Council that they have tried sincerely to work for the best
interests of the City, the Industries and Railways; and
WHEREAS, that the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway
have never heretofore complained of any treatment received at the
hands of the City,
NOW" THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1: That inqui:ry be made through the officials

distruct the City of' Vernon and trust other cities.
