A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE any OF VERNON
DEClARING THAT PUBLIC INTEREST AND NECESSITY REQUIRES
THAT THE CITY OF VERNON CONDEMN CERTAIN PROPERTY.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERt-ION DOES RESOLVE AS
6 FOLLOWS:
7 Section l: That public interest, convenience and
8 necessity requires and it is hereby found and determined

Section 2: That the public use for which said
land hereinafter described to be condemned is to be used
is a municipal pumping station to be a part of the Oity's
water system for the development of water wells and the
pumping of water therefrom; for the erection of the necessary
pumping equipment thereon together with the <erection of a
municipal fire department station for the housing of the
necessary fire departIlBnt equipment ,and appurtenances, in-
cluding necessary buildings to house employees of the water
and fire departments, together with all necessa.ry buiildings
in conjunction with the operation and maintenance of a city
pumping plant and a city fi~e department station required to
carry out the purpose of the use. All water so developed
and produced from said land is to be used to supply the
city and its inhabitants with water within the corporate
limits of said city.
Section 3: That the land necessary to be taken for
the use deScribed in S~ction 2 hereof is a parcel of land
situate in the City of Vernon, Oounty of Los Angeles, State
of California, and being those portions of Lots 35 and 36

either side of a line drawn parallel with and 310.00 ft.
northerly from aforesaid northerly line of Fruitland Avenue,
the said easement and right of way being within a portion of
Parcel 17 and all of Parcel 18 as described in deed recorded
in Book 4752, page 265, Official Records of said County.
Section 4: That the land described in Section 3
to be taken for the use described in Section 2 hereof is
located in aJunanner which will be- most compatible with the
greatest public good and the least private tnjury.
Section 5: That the City Attorney of the City of
Vernon is hereby directed to bring an action in the Superior
Court of the State of California, in and for the County of
Los Angeles, in the name of the City of Vernon, for the con-
demnation of the property described in 'Section 3 of this
Resolution, against all owners and claimants of said property
or any part thereof, pursuant to and in accordance with
Title VII, Part 3 of the Code of Civil Procedure of the
State of California, and for his services he shall receive
'such additional compensation as approved by the City Council
of the City of Vernon.
Section 6: The City Clerk sha.ll certify to the
passage of this Resolution and upon said certification and
the approval thereof by the Mayor" same shall be in full
force and effect.
Adopted and approved this 28th day of October, 1941.
