A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, DECLAR-
ING THE RESULTS OF A REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD ON THE
l4th DAY OF APRIL, 1942.
WHEREAS, a general municipal election was held in
the City of Vernon, State of California, on Tuesday, the 14th
day of April, 1942, for the purpose of electing four (4)
members of the City CounCil, three (3) for the full term and
one (l) for an unexpired term; and,
WHEREAS> it appears that said election was held and
conducted in accordance with the General Election Laws of the
State of California" as far as same were applicable; that the
City Oouncil gave such notices of the election as prescribed
by law and appointed a board of election" fixed their com-
pensation, established an election precinct and polling place,
and that said election was held and conducted and votes cast
thereat were received and canvassed and the returns thereon
were made in the time, form and manner required by law; and,
WHEREAS, the City Oouncil did meet on this the
21st day of April, 1942, being the first Tuesday next succeeding
the date of said general municipal election, and at said meet-
ing the said board canvassed the votes cast at said general
municipal election. Whereupon it was found that the total
votes cast at said election in said City were 127 votes. The
number of spoi~ed ballots were O. The votes were as follows:

herein named received a majority ,of all the votes cast thereat
for the respective offices mentioned.
NOW ~ THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, determined
and declared by the Oity Council of the City of Vernon that
at a general municipal election held in said City on the 14th
day of April, 1942, the persons elected to the respective
offices for the terms stated and until their successors are
duly elected and qualified, are as follows:
Jean B. Leonis, as Councilman of the City of
Vernon, for the full term of four years;
Estevan R. Peralta, as Councilman of the Oity
of V~rnon, for the full term of four years;
Herman Scheider, as Co~ilman of the City
of Vernon, for the full term of four years;
Robert J. Furlong, as Councilman of the Oity
of Vernon, for an unexpired term of two years.
The newly elected officers, before entering upon
their duties of the office as Councilmen, shall take and sub-
scribe to the constitutional oath of office and file same with
the City Olerk.
The Oity Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the
passage of this Resolution, and thereupon the same shall be in
full force and effect.

NOTICE ~ ELEOTION
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that a regular municipal
election will be held Tuesday, April l4, 1942, in the City of
Vernon, California, for the election of the following officers:
Three (3) CounCilmen, for the full term of four years;
One (l) Oouncilman, for the short term of two years.
The regular election precinct heretofore established
by the Oounty of Los Angeles for the holding of State and
County elections will be used at said election, and the polling
place therefor will be in the lobby of the City Hall of said
City, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, California.
The pOlls will be open between the hours of seven
(7) o'clock A. M. and seven (7) o'clock P. M. on said date.

was, the duly qualified and acting City Clerk of the City of
Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of California; that,
pursuant to law, I did, on the lOth day of March, 1942, post
the attached Notice of Election in three of the most public
places in the Oity of Vernon, to wit: At the northwest
corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; at the northwest
corner of 37th Street and Santa Fe Avenue; and, on the
bulletin board in the lobby of the City Hall of the City of
Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in said City.
