Honorable City Council
City of Vernon
Vernon, California
Gentlemen:
With reference to bids, opened March 17th for
furnishing miscellaneous pipe and fittings for equipping
Well No.. 7, Johns-Manville submitted the most favorable
offer for furnishing the pipe, as follows:
500 ft. 14" CJa ss 100, Johns-Manville
Pressure Pipe @ $2.954 per ft.
52 ft. 16" Class 100, Johns-Manville
Pressure Pipe @ $3.689 per ft..
$1,477.00
191.83
$1,668.83
It is therefore recommended that Johns-Manville,
l207 Architects Building, 816 test Fifth Street, Los
Angeles, be awarded the contract for furnishing this
material.
Attached is a summary of all offers received
for furnishing this material. The U. S. Pipe and Foundry
Company submitted a bid on cast iron pipe which is lower
than that submitted by Johns-Manville Company for tran-
site pipe, but the delivery conditions and the fact that
we can not obtain a preference rating for their pipe
makes their offer unacceptable.
Respectfully submitted,
~~~
Francis Bates
City Engineer
