RESOLUTION NO. 1119
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, AP-
PROVING TEE PURCHASE OF CERTAIN METERS FOR THE WATER DEPART-
MENT OF THE CITY OF VERNON.
TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the City Engineer of the City of Vernon has
made a requisition for the purchase of 1-4", 2-1" and 1-3"
Hersey Water Meters that are urgently needed at the present
time for new service; and
WHEREAS, the City Engineer has requested authority
to buy 1 - 6" Hersey meter, at a cost of $572.00, and which,
if not purchased at the present time, would not be available
later owing to restrictions placed upon the manufacture of
meters by the United States Government; and
WHEREAS in the opinion of the City Emgineer, the
meters referred to above will be the last Bronze Body meters
that the Department will be ab~e to purchase during the dura-
tion; and
WHEREAS the City Water System is equipped entirely
with this make of meter, and in the opinion of the City Council
it would be to the best interests of the City, owing to the
present emergency, to purchase all of said meters at this time.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1. That the City Engineer be and he is
hereby authorized to purchase at this tine I -4", 2 - 1" and
I - 3" Hersey Water Meters, also 1 - 6" Hersey meter at the
price set forth in the purchase requisition.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage
of this resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect.

Gentlemen:
I am today asking your approval of requi-
sition covering purchase of one 4 inch, two 1 inch,
and one 3 inch Hersey water meters, the total cost
of which will be $46B.82. These are needed at this
time for new services.
Also attache. is proposed requisition for
one 6 inch Hereey meter costing $572.00, which, if
not purchased immediately, will not be available
later.

These meters are probably the last bronze
body meters we will be able to get for the duration
of the war, and it is very desirable that we obtain
them now while we can. The City water system is
equipped entirely with this make of meter and we would
. not want to change so long as their prices remain fair.
Also, due to the scarcity of meters we could not at
this time secure competitive bids for supplying our
needs.
It is therefore reoommended that you approve
the purchase at this time of the meters listed on the
two requisitions.
