RESOLUTION NO. 1134

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, AC-
CEPTING GIFT OF THE VERNON INDUSTRIAL DEVELOP~ffiNT ASSOCIATION.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIm CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Vernon Industrial Development Associa-
tion has offered a gift of $4000.00 to the City of Vernon,
said gift to be used by the City of Vernon to assist the city
in carrying into operation its local defense work, as set
forth in the resolutiom of the Board of Directors of the Vernon
Industrial Development Association, and
WHEREAS, the said Vernon Industrial Development Asso-
ciation has requested the City of Vernon that in the event
said gift is accepted by the City, it will conform to certain
conditions set forth in said Resolution attached to said gift.
NOW, THEREPORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Vernon
does hereby accept the above gift of $4000.00 fDom the Vernon
Industrial Development Association and agrees,so far as is le-
gally possible, to conform to the Resolution accompanying said
gift; a copy of which said resolution is attached hereto and
made a part of this resolution.
Section 2. The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Resolution
and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force
and effect.

RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF
VERNON INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPIvIENT ASSOCIATION.

BE IT RESOLVED, that the VERNON INDUSTRIAL DEVELOP-
~mNT ASSOCIATION, to assist the City of Vernon in its local ci-
vilian defense under the Office of Civilian Defense, presents
the City as a gift the sum of $4000.00, said $4000.00 to be used
by the City of Vernon in carrying into operation its local de-
fense work, such as the payment of salaries to the personnel of
the local Defense Center, purchasing of equipment, installation
and rental of telephones, or any other expense that may be nec-
essary to successfully carry out its operations under the office
of Civilian Defense.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this corporation will
further assist the City in its local defense operations by as-
suming the responsibility of securing the personnel to be em-
ployed,by the City in the local Defense Center, with the under-
standing that upon acceptance of the above-described gift, the
City agrees not to keep in its employment in the Control Center
any person that wodd be objectionable to the Vernon Industrial
Development Association, while any part of the said gift is
unexpended.
BE IT ~JhTHER RESOLVED that the Secretary-Treasurer
be authorized to dvaw a check payable to the City of Vernon for
the sum of $4000.00, as a gift from the Vernon Industrial Devel-
opment Association for ,the purposes herein stated.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution
together with a check for $4000.00 be forwarded to the City
