1 RESOLUTION NO. 1138
2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON,
AUTHORIZING THE EMPLOY1ffiNT OF WATCIDlmN IN THE WATER DEPART-
3 1ffiNT DURING TF~ PRESENT WAR E1ffiRGENCY.
4 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS
FOLLOWS:

WHEREAS, the United States of America is now at war,
7
and
8
WHEREAS in the opinion of the City Council of the City
9
of Vernon it is necessary to employ watchmen in the Water De-
partment, and
WHEREAS, it is to the best interests of the City of
Vernon that said watchmen should be under the supervision of
the Engineering Department, and the costs thereof to be pay-
able out of a general fund from a budget to be created there-
for:
NOW, THEREFORE, BElT RESOLVED:
Section 1. That the City Engineer be and he is here-
by authorlzed to employ necessary watchmen in the Water De-
partment to guard the water wells and equipment of said de-
partment, at the salary provided for in Resolution No. 1137.
Section 2.
All of said watchmen so employed shall be
under the supervision of the City Engineer of the City of
Vernon.
Section 3. Said City Engineer is authorized to employ
.ul':f~c:ient watchmen during the national emergency to properly
protect said Water Department. The costs of said watchmen
shall not be chargeable to the Water Department, but shall be
chargeable to a budget to be created for that purpose from the
general fund of the City of Vernon.
Section 4. The City Clerk of the City of Vernon 1s
hereby directed to certify to the passage of this Resolution
