THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: THAT~ WHEREAS, Union Oil Company of California, by communication dated February 12, 1945 made written application in due form as required by law to the City of Vernon for the franchise to install, maintain, construct, repair, renew and change the size, not to exceed six (6) inches in internal diam- eter, of pipe lines for the transportaion of petroleum oil, together with all manholes, service connections and appurtenamces necessary or convenient for the operation of said pipe lines, for the term of twenty-five \25) years, under, along and across ,.., those certain public streets in the City of Vernon, described as follows: 1. Fifty-fifth street, between the center line of 1st alley east of Santa Fe Avenue and a point 1600 feet westerly thereof. 2. Westerly one-half of Boyle Avenue, between the south bOundary of the City of Vernon and a point 800 feet northerly thereof. 3. Slauson Avenue, between the center line of Boyle Avenue and a point 2000 feet easterly thereof. 4. Across 26th Street, 29 feet east of the center line of Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe Railway Company's right of way. 5. Across 27th Street, 27.5 feet east of the center line of AtChison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company's right of way. 6. Across 28th street, 27 feet east of the center line of AtChison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company's right of way. 7. Across that portion of 52nd street lying north of the south boundary of the City of Vernon, 7.9 feet east of the center line of AtChison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway Company's right of way. Across 57th Street, 1279.7 feet west of the center line of Santa Fe Avenue. 6 7 11. 8 9 12. 10 11 13. 12 13 14. 14 15 16 15. 17 18 and 19 WHEREAS" it appears to the satisfaction of this City Council that the fact of said application of Union Oi~ Company 20 21 of California for saidfranchise, together with all other neces- \ sary statements, was advertised as required by law, and that said 22 23 24 advertisement contained the statement that sealed bids ~or said franchise would be received up to three o'clock in the afternoon 25 of June 19, 1945, at the office of the City Clerk of said City, and that said franchise and privilege would be sold to the per- son, firm or corporation who should make the highest cash bid therefor, and 32 WHEREAS, at the hour of three o'clock in the after- noon on June 19th, 1945 said City Council would duly convene and thereafter open and examine all said bids for said franchise 2. That the said bid of Union Oil Company of California for said franchise be, and the same hereby is, accepted and that said franchise hereby is struck off, sold and awarded to said Union Oil Company of California, for said sum of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). Section 2. T hat said bond in the penal sum of One Thousand Dollars ($lOOO.OO),heretofore filed by said Union Oil Company of California, is hereby accepted and approved. Section 3. The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. 3.
