RESOLUTION NO. 13~3 A RESOLUTION OF !l'HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON, AWARDING !l'O LAYNE & BOWLER CORPORA'fION, THE CONTRACT FOR THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERY !l'0 THE CITY ONE COMPLETE UNIT CON- SISTING OF PUMP HEAD, ELEC!l'RIC MOTOR AND MAGNE'fIC S'fAR'fING SWITJm PREPARED FOR DIRECT CONNECTIONS WITH DEEP WELL !l'URBlNE PUMP. 1'HE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: That, WHEREAS, the City has heretofore publicly ad- vertised f'or bids for the furnishing and del.ivery of' one com- plete unit consisting of pump head, electric motor and magnetic starting switch prepared for direct connections with 'Deep Well Turbine Pump; and WHEREAS, Layne & Bowler Corporation has f'iled a propos- alar bid for the furnishing and delivery of said complete pump and appurtenances specified in the Notice Inviting Sealed Pro- posals or Bids, for the sum of $3399.00, plus sales tax; and WHEREAS, the City of Vernon is desirous of' awarding the contract for said furnishing and delivery of said equip- amt set f'orth in the Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals or Bids to Layne & Bowler Corporation: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: Section 1. That all bids heretofore received f'or the furnishing and delivery of said equipment as set forth in Botice Inviting Sealed Proposals and Bids, be and the same are hereby rejected, except the bid of Layne & Bowler Corporation, and I that it be awarded the contract for the furnishing and delivery of said equipment for the sum mentioned in their bid, to-wit: $3399.00, plus California sales tax. Section 2. The City Clerk is hereby authorized, in- structed and empowered to return all checks received to all unsuccessful bidders. Section 3. Feb. 10, 1947 The Honorable City Conncil of the City of Vernon Vernon California Gentlemen: In response to your specifications covering a motor, bowls and pump head for use on your Well No. 6, please be advised that we are attaching hereto a certified check in the amount of $350.00 to cover the total of our bid. We propose to furnish one 100 HP, 6-pole, vertical, hollow-shaft motor, arranged for 440-volt, 3-phase, 60-cycle current; speed, approximately 1170 RPM; together with our No. 25 Armorclad pump head (drawing of pump head enclosed); together with a set ot 12ft pump bowls to perform in accordance with our Curve No. 47032, also enclosed.TbB head, motor and bowls are to be furnished at a price of $3,259.00, plus 2-1/2% state sales tax. We propose to furnish, also, one Square D, or equal contactor, Class #8536, 3-pole, size 4 VAG-l, at a price of $140.00 plus 2-1/2% state sales tax. . The above c ontactor is to be used in place of the hand starting compensator now in use. It is our nnderstanding that you will use your present entrance switch and fuses in connection with this magnetic con- tactor. \.--.,Delivery on the' above equipment ean be made on or about :May 1, 1947. As a matter of fact, we now have a motor in stock.' We are enclosing a performance data sheet on thismotor. We are also enclosing a drawing showing the size and other information as to the pump bowls which we propose to fUrnish. The pump bowls will be constructed with bronze impellers and stainless steel shaft; the bowl castings to be porcelain-lined inside.
