RESOLUTION NO. 1345
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHOR-
IZING AND INSTRUCTING THE. MAYOR AND CITY CLERK OF SAID CIn TO
P$TITION THE PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSION OF THE STATE OF
CALIFORNIA. TO REQUIRE THE. SOY'l'HERN J>~CIFICRAILROAD COMPANY
TO. CHANGE AND REBUILl) THE GRADE OF 'fHEIB ROAD BED, TRACKS AND
OTHER STRUCTURES AND FACILITIES SO THAT THE ENTIRE WIDTH OF
ALAMEDA STREET CAN BE PAVED AND USED FOR VEHICULAR TRAFFIC.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

its tracks, structures and other racilities are so constructed so

as to interrere with the highest and best use or Alameda Street
within the City of Vernon ror vehicular trarric" and
WHEREAS" the City Councilor the City of'Vernon rinds
that the best interests of the City and its inhabitants and all
persons using Alameda Street within the City or Vernon require
that the railroad rebuild their tracks" structures and other
facilities so that the entire street within the City of Vernon may
be paved and used for vehicular trarric, and
WHEREAS, owing to the increase in vehicular trafric that
it is necessary that the entire width of Alameda Street within the
City or Vernon must be used for vehicular trarric" and
WHEREAS" the Southern Pacific's railroad tracks, struc-
tures and other facilities as presently existing" interrere with
the highest and best use of Alameda Street for vehicular trarric
within the City or Vernon:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1: That public interests and necessity require
that the entire width or Ala.meda Street within the City or Vernon
should be used f'or vehicular trarfic and the Southern Paciric

Section 2: That the Mayor and City Clerk of the City
5 of Vernon be and they are hereby authorized and directed to
6 petition the Public Utilities Commission of the State of
7 California for an order requiring the Southern Pacific Railroad
8 Company to change and rebuild their road bed, tracks, structures
9 and facilities so that the entire width of said Alameda Street"
10 in said Oity of Vernon may be used for vehicular traffic.

Section 3: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon" is
12 directed to certify to the passage of this resolution and
13 thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and
14 effect.
