WHEREAS, the City Council ot the Cit,. of Vernon did,
on the 6th day of Jul,., 1948 adopt a Resolution of Intention
to entexa into and approve a contract with the Board ot Admin-
istration ot the State Eaplo1ees' Retirement System; and
WHEREAS, the provisions of the State Employees J Retire-
ment Law require an election to be held to permit the emplo1eea
to be included in the Retirement System to express by secret
ballot their approval or dlsapporval of the Retiremen~ System
proposed:
BOW, fHEREPORE., BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council
of the City ot Vernon hereby calla ~ election to be held 1n the
City of Vernon on the 16th day of Ju11, 1948 for the purpose
ot permitting the employees of said City, to Express by secret
ballot their approval or disapproval ot the proposal ot the
City Council of the City ot Vernon to enter into a contract
with the Board of Adm1nistl'ation ot the State EmploJees' Re-
tirement System to include said Ebployees in said Retirement
System. !he polling place tor said election shall be Lobby ot
City Hall, City ot Vernon. Said Polling place shall be open
trom 7 A. M. to 7 p. M. 01' said 16th dayot July i aJl.4 the
City Council does hereby appoint J. W. Moss, Lester C. Husted
and Walter B. Hollingsworth, to act as Judges ot the E:.tionl
to have charge of the polling place and conduct the election
and to canvass the votes upon the c1.081ng of. the PollS , prepare,
sign and tile with the City Clerk in a .ealed envelope a certif-
icate showing separately the number of votes tor approval and

those tor disapproval by the employees ot the Police Department,
the Fire Department and Miscellaneous Employees. Said Judges ot
Election shall see that the polling place is opened at 7 A.M. remains
open until 7 P.M. and is closed by the latter hoU1'. '!'he,. shall
see that the election is conducted in an orderly manner and
that all persons entitled to vote thereat are furnished with
the proper torm ot ballot. At the closing ot the polls and
atter counting and talll1ng ot all ballots and the signi,ng ot
the certificate hereinabove mentioned, all ballots cast at the
election shall be plaCed in a sealed envelope a.nd depoaitec1
With the City Clerk ot the City ot Vernon. Notice ot tlle date
and place ot election ahall be posed in the ottice of the
Police Department and ot the Fire Department and at the en-

the Notice shall be mailed at least two days betore the date
ot elect:ion to each empl07ee Yhose:addreaa 18 on tile nth the
City ot Vernon.
The C i tl Clerk ahall certify to the passage ot this
Resolution and thereupon a.n4 thereafter the same shall be in
full force and ~tteet.
