RESOLUTION NO. 1425 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUmORIZ- ING THE ADVANCEMENT OF $1500.00 FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR OF SEWER LINES APPROXIMATELY 500 feet of the twenty- seven (27) inch SEWER IN SOTO STREET., NORTHERLY FROM VERNON AVENUE., AND THE mIRTY (30) INCH SEWER IN SANTA FE AVENUE FROM VERNON AVENUE SOUTHERLU TO PACIFIC BOULEVARD WITHIN THE CITY OF VERNON. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: THAT., WHEREAS the City Engineer of the City of Vernon did file with the City Council of said City a report dated February 15, 1949 wherein the Engineer stated that the tventy- seven (27) inch sewer in Vernon Avenue between Santa Fe Avenue and Soto Street was in need of cleaning and that said work was to be done at once; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon did authorize the expenditure of $3500.00 for the cleaning and maintenance of said sewer line; and WHEREAS the City Engineer finds that it will require an additional expenditure to maintain by cleaning other portions of said sewer line., consisting of cleaning 500 feet of the 27 inch sewer in Soto Street, northerly from Vernon Avenue and the thirty (30) inch sewer in Santa Fe Avenue from Vernon Ave- nue southerly to Pac~fic Boulevard, this to be done at once to avoid the possibility of stoppage in said lines with conse- quent menace to the City of Vernon; and WHEREAS., it is the opinion of the City Council that a real emergency exists and it is necessary that immediate action be taken to protect the life and property of the inhabitants of the City of Vernon: NOW, 'ffiEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: Section 1. I- 01 Z !: :J 31 ;:J: 32 . the necessity of closing a portion of the industries within the City ror the maintenance and repair., consisting of clean- ing of approximately 500 feet of the 27 inch sewer in Soto Street northerly from Vernon Avenue and the 30 inch sewer in Santa Fe Avenue from Vernon Avenue southerly to Pacific Boulevard. Section 2. The City Council of said City does hereby authorize the apppopriation of $1500.00 for emergency expendi- tures made in connection with the cleaning of said sewers. Section 3. The City Engineer is authorized to employ a qualified sewer cleaning contractor who has the force and equipment available to undertake the work of cleaning said sewer. Section 4. The City Engineer is further authorized to bill the various owners having sewer connections with this line for their pro-rata share of the cost of cleaning operation so as to reimburse the city. Section 5. The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and efrect.
