CITY.
3
4
THE CITY COUNCIL OF Th~ CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
5
WHEREAS, Providence has seen fit to terminate the mortal
career of our friend and colleague, Thomas J. Furlong, he having
passed into the Great Beyond on Saturday, the eleventh day of
February, nineteen hundred and fifty; and
WHEREAS, by this transition, the City of Vernon has lost
a valuable and conscientious public servant and citizen whose
sterling worth and genial disposition endeared him to those who
knew him best; and
WHEREAS, his official connection with the City of Vernon
as City Clerk, from December 27, 1906, to the time of his demise,
has left an ineffaceable imprint upon the City Government; and
WHEREAS, each member of the City Council feels deeply
the loss thus sustained;
"Sweet be thy rest and peaceful thy sleeping;
God's way is best, thou art in his keeping.
God saw the road was getting rough,
The hills were hard to climb,
So gently he closed the weary eyes and
whispered peace be thine."
