TIlE COIDfTY OF LOS ANGELES FOR THE PAINTING OF TRAFFIC STRIPES

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON .DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

WHEREAS, many streets in the city of Vernon require
traffic stripes painted thereon, and
WHEREAS, it is for the best interest of the City of
Vernon that the County of Los Angeles be employed to paint said
traffic stripes in said city, and that a contract be entered
into between said parties setting forth the terms of their agree-

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The Mayor and City Clerk are authorized
to enter into the following contract wita the County at Los
Angeles:

the full and faithful performance of all the terms, con-
ditions and covenants herein agreed to be pertormed by

shall, under the order ot the Chief or police ot said City
or such other person as the City Council shall designate,

the unincorporated area of said County, the City Council
of said city exercising the same authority with reference
to said work on said streets as the Board of Supervisors
would exercise if said highways were in the unincorporated
area of said County.
-The streets designated for painting within the boun-
daries of the City of Vernon are described a8 follows:

Washington Boulevard

-2. As compensation for these services herein agreed
to be performed by said County, the City agrees to reim-
burse the County promptly upon rendition of statement for
the actual and necessary expenses incurred by said County
in performance of any Cf)f the work herein agreed to be per-
formed, including expenditures for wages, salaries amd a
sum equal to
of the amounts expended
for said wages and salaries, and necessary expenses in-
curred for the rental of equipment used in the performance

DeparUment sohedules; provided, however, that the sums
agreed to be paid hereunder for traffic line striping
under any given order shall not exceed the sum of One
Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00).
u3. It is mutually understood and agreed that no
provision of this agreement shall be construed to re-
lieve the City from any liability imposed upon it by
statute or otherwise for the maintenance of said streets
free from dangerous or defeotive conditions, and that
the County shall not, by entering into this agreement,
assume or be liable for any damages or injuries which
may be caused to persons or property from the use of
said public streets.
u,. It is further mutually agreed that the City

does not, by the exeoution of this agreement, BSSWIle any
direct liability for the payment of wages, salaries or
other eompensation to any officer, employee, laborer,
or workman or mechanic employed by said County or under
its supervision in the performanee of the work herein
agreed to be performed other than the liability for pay-
ment to said county of the sums agreed to be paid, and
said City shall not be liable to any such officer, em-
ployee, laborer, workman or mechanic for injuries aris-
ing in the course of, or growing out of, any employment
under this agreement.
