2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF VERNON EMPLOTING EDWARD R. YOUNG AS
SPECIAL COUNSEL.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

THAT, WHEREAS, an action entitled: Consolidated Pacific
Investment Co., a California corporation, Plaintiff -v- City of
Vernon, a Municipal corporation, The City Council of the City of
Vernon and J. B. Leonis, C. W. Trowbridge, C. H. Mailliard, 9. H.
Anderson, and R. J. Furlong, constituting the members of said
City Council; R. J. Furlong, Mayor of the City of Vernon; Carson
B. Hubbard, City Attorney for the City of Vernon; Francis Bates,
City Engineer for the City of Vernon; James S. Colton, Building

13 I Inspector for the City of Vernon and Walter B. Hollingsworth,

Assistant City Engineer, Defendants, is now pending in the Superior
Court of the state of California, in and for the county of Los
Angeles, and

WHEREAS, the Council deems it is advisable and for
the best interests of the City of Vernon that Special Counsel be
employed to assist the City Attorney in the prosecution of the
defense of said action,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

Section 1. That Edward R. Young, Esquire, an attorney-
at-law admitted to practise in all of the courts in this state be,
and he is hereby, employed as Special Counsel in prosecuting the
defense to the aforesaid action for and on behalf of the City of
Vernon, its councilmen, officers, agents and employees.
Section 2. The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
hereby directed to certify to the passage of this resolution and
thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE
VERNON CITY COUNCIL
1 TO THE COUNCILMEN OF THE CITY OF VERNON, a Munioipal Corporation:
2 Pursuant to the call of R. J. Furlong, Mayor, Notioe
3 is hereby given that a Special Meeting of the City Counoil of
4 the City of Vernon has been oalled, and will be held, at the
5 Council Chambers in the Vernon C.ity Hall located at 4305 Santa Fe
6 Avenue, Vernon, Los Angeles county, California, at the hour of
7 4:00 o'olock P. M., on the 29th day of March, 1950, for the trans-
8 aotion of business of said C1 ty of Vernon.
9 That the business to be transacted will be:
10 (1) The consideration of what aotion the City Council will

take with reference to the aotion brought by consolidated Pacifio
Investment COe, a California oorporation, Plaintiff -v- city of
Vernon, a Munioipal corporation, The City C:ouncil of the C1 ty of
Vernon, and J. B. Leonis, C. W. Trowbridge, C. H. Mailliard,
C. H. Anderson, and R. J. Furlong, constituting the members of
said City council; R. J. Furlong, Mayor of the City of Vernon;
Carson B. Hubbard, City Attorney for the City of Vernon; Francis
Bates, City Engineer for the City of Vernon; James S. Colton,
Building Inspector for the City of Vernon and Walter B. Hollings-
