Resolution No. 1489 ~ 26 z o "II: a: ::l ~ ., 27 <( '" - 0 00> z 5 ~ ~ .. oo~~~u,;, 28 o::lll: It . . z J:OIlJO:':< ~ ....>~ (t g -00.....100.<.J 29 == <( 0 U III oZ>>-O: z ~ o"'!: U 0 z tIlUo: ~ ; 30 a: CD Z '" <( 0 _ ... u ~ ~ :J 31 J: &; s RESOLUTI ON NO. 1489 1 2 A RESOLUTION OF TEE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DECLARING AN EMERGENCY TO EXIST IN THE MAINTENANCE OF THE CI TY OF VERNON 3 WATER DEPARTMENT'S WELL NO.3, AND APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR THE REP AI R THEREOF. 4 5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: , 6 THAT, WHEREAS, the City Engineer of the City of Vernon 7 advises that the pump in water Department's Well No.3 has been 8 removed and examined, and that the pump bowls are in such bad 9 condition that repair is impractical, and 10 WHEREAS, an emergency exists when a well is out of Ser- 11 vice, and that the situation could become critical endangering 12 life, health, property and safety if there should be another well 13 failure at the same time, and 14 WHEREAS, the Layne & Bowler Cbrporation have agreed to 15 supply new bowls for the sum of Eleven Hundred Eighty Five Dollars 16 ($lI85.00) plus an al10wance of Three Hundred Sixty Dollars 17 ($360.00) for the old bowls, 18 N OW, THEREFORE, BE I T RESOLVED: 19 section 1. That the City Council of the C'ity of Vernon 20 does hereby declare that an emergency exists and that public in- 21 terest and necessity demand<the immediate expenditure of public 22 money for the repair of the pump in Vernon water Department's 23 Well No. 3 to avoid a menace to the public health, property and 24 safety of said city. 25 section 2. That the City Engineer is hereby authorized to purchase bowls for said pump from the Layne & Bowler Corpora- tion for the sum of Eleven Hundred Eighty Five Dol1ars ($1185.00) pIus an allowance of Three Hundred Sixty Dol1ars ($360.00) for the old bowls. 32 Section 3.
