3 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZ-
ING AND DIRECTING THE INVITING OF SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR
4 THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERY TO THE CITY OF VERNON OF PUMPING
EQUIPMENT FOR WELL NO.9.

6 THE CI'l'Y COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
7 WHEREAS, there has been a recent failure in wells
8 supplying the City of Vernon with water, and
9 'WHEREAS, the City of Vernon has a well, known. as
10 Well No.9, and
11 WHEREAS, it is for the best interests of the city ot
12 Vernon that the said well be placed into production, and that
13 the necessary equipment for so doing be purchased;
14 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. That the City give notice inviting sealed
16 proposals or bids to be received at the office of the City Clerk
17 in theC~tyHall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, california, on
18 or before the hour of 2:00 O'clock P. M. on the 17th day of
19 OctOber, 1950, for the furnishing and delivery, at the above
20 address, of the equipment described in the Notice inviting bids,
21 which is incorporated herein, and made a part hereof.

7 bids will be received by the City ot Vernon, California, at the
8 otfice ot theOity Clerk in the City Hall, 4:;05 Santa Fe Avenue,
9 Vernon, California, until the hour of two (2:00) o'clock P.M. on

It is the purpose to provide tor the furnishing
and delive17 to the City ot,Vernon a complete
pumping unit, consisting of deep well turbine
pump with direc,t connected electric motor driv-
ing unit, ,and appurtenances, to operate ,in 18
inch diameter water well..

for electric motor,drive, designed to operate
at speed at approximately 1170 R.p.M.,and at
bes~ etticiency when pumping 1500 gallop.s per
minute against a head of :;~O teet plus the

tion.openingand,the . pumpd,ischarge. Bearings
for shaft and pump, and the pump runners, shall
be otbronze. A 'satlsfacto1"1 lubrication system
shall be included.

screwt'ypesteel pipe,. weigh1ngnot less than
4:;-77 pounds per lineal toot, together with
horizontal discharge above ground fitted with
125 lb. sta.ndardflange faced and drilled for
12 <inchconneetion. Also, tor connection below
the pump bowls, theEe shall be :furnished a 20
tt. length ot 12" suction pipe and galvanized
cornucopia type strainer, together with :;60 feet
of one -quarter inch brass pipe or copper tubing
and suitable pressure gauge and appurtenances,
for direct reading of the water level in the well.
A one inch diameter opening through the plm1p base
shall also be proVided which shall be suitable
for passing a sounding line.
The electric motor shall be of standard make,
General Electric, U.S. Motor, or equal of the
outdoor type, .fullyprotectedfrom'the weather,

METHOD OF PAYMENT:
Payment will be made out of funds prOVided for such
purpose, by the City and shall be made out of demands ordered

shall be paid upon acceptance of the equipment by the City Council
of the City of Vernon.
AC~EPTANCE OR REJECTION:
The City. reserves the right to reject any and all
bids and accept.anybid,.which in its Judgment shall produce
the most satisfactory and economical result,su1ted to the
8 requ1rementof the City. The bidder is required to specify the
proposed da.teof delivery, and the City Council will take into
consideratie>n, in awarding the contrs.ot,the time requ1~edto
deliver said equipment.
SCHEDULE OF PROPOSALS:
Each Proposal or Bid must be delivered to the City Clerk
of the City of Vernon, 4305 Santa Fe A.venue, Vernon,. California,
in sealed envelope at or before the time stated in this notice
and must be plainly marked .Proposal for the Furnishing and
Delivering of Pumping Equipment for Well No.9, for the City of
Vernon.a No oral, telegraphic or telephonic proposal will be
accepted.
BOND. REQUIREMENT:
All. bids must be accompanied by a certified check, bidders
bond or draft payable at a bank authorized to do business in the
State of California, payable a.t sigh't,to the City Clerk of th.e
City of Vernon, 1n'iS.n amount equal to ten (10%) percent of the
bid submitted. Unsuccess.fu1 bidde~s' checks1fi1.1.>be ret'll:rmed
when the contract is awarded. The successful bidders' cheeks
will be returned when thecontr.act is fully executed.
