A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DECLARING
PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES TO BE USED IN THE DRILLING OF
ONE WATER 1JIJELL, .AND THE DEVELOPING AND TESTING THEREOF FOR THE
CITY OF VERNONi CALIFORNIA, IN ACCORD/41{CE WITH ENGINEER'S SPECI-
FICATIONS NO. 53. '
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Vernon
has ascertained and does hereby find and declare that the gen-
eral prevailing rate per diem for wages for laborers, workmen
and mechanics employed by contractors and sub-contractors, for
the doing of any work set forth in Specifications No. 153, which
Specifications were duly adopted by the City Council on october
17, 1950, in Resolution No. 1Jlo; , is as follows:
The general prevailing rate of the per diem wages,
rates for Legal Holidays, and overtime work, in the locality in
which this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of
workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will
be awarded to the successful bidder, is determined to be as
fol1ows:
Foremen: AIl Foremen not herein separately classified shall
be paid not less than $1.40 per day more than the journeyman
rate for the craft involved.
Apprentices: May be employed in conformity with Section 1777.5
of the California Labor code.

Provided that not less than one and one-half times
the prevailing rate shall be paid for any working time more
than eight hours during anyone calendar day, and for time on
Saturdays, Sundays and the seven legal holidays, to-wit: New
Year' sDay, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Armistice
Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

1 provided that notwithstanding the general provision
contained herein, Flagmen, Guards and watchmen shal1 be paid
2 one and one-half times the prevailing rate for overtime (over-
time shall be time worked in excess of eight hours per day or
3 forty hours per week), and the straight prevailing rate for
time worked on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays where such time
4 does not constitute overtime.
5 The foregoing prevailing wage schedule is based upon
a working day of eight hours and in the event that laborers,
6 workmen or mechanics are employed less than eight hours per
day, the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that frac-
7 tion of the foregoing rates that the number of hours of employ.

The rate of compensation for any classification not
9 listed in the schedule but which may be required to execute the
proposed work, shall be commensurate and in accord with the rates
10 specified for similar and comparable classification for those
performing similar or comparable duties.
