THIS AGREEMENT made and enterea into this

a municipal corporation of the State.of Californi~, situate 1n
the County of Los Angeles, State of California, hereinafter :re-

WIT N ES SET H ;
1fiHEP.EAS, there is established and maintained in the County
13. County Jllil for the incarceration therein of prisoners lawfUlly
committed thereto, and to the custody of the Sheriff; and
WHEREAS, a court is es tablished and maintained in said Ci.ty,
in accordance with the statutes of the State of California, : having.

competent jurisdiction to comrni t persons to the County Ja.11;,;of the .
County, and to the custody of the Sheriff of the County after con-
viction for the violation of penal ordinances of said City; and
WHEREAS, it is the duty of the Sheriff of the County to take

charge of the County Jail and the pri.soners therein ancl\o~eoe~ve
persons cormnitted to the County Jail by competent authority; and
WHEREAS, it is the legal obligation of the said City to pay
for such food and lodging as may be necessarily furnished to per-
sons so committed; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated and agreed by and between the
parties hereto th.at the cost of food and lodging of each male
prisoner confined in the County Jail amounts to :pll.57 per day
or portion thereof, a.ndthe cost of said food and 10dgingfo1'"
each female prisoner amounts to the sum of ~?2 .32 per day or
tion thereof, and it is the desire of the parties hereto to
establish and agree upon said sums as the sums to be paid by the
City to the County, for the food and lodging furnished per day

It is agreed that for the purposes of this agreement the

the terms of this Agreement.

It is agreed that this Agreement shall be effective from the
date of exeeutionthereof and shall continue in full rorce and
effect until cancelled by either party, by said party giving to
the other party a thirty (30) day written notice of its intention

IT IS FURTHER AGREED that the per diem rates tor mainteh&no.
of prisoners in the County Jail provided herein shall be sUbjeot
to an annual adjustment by the parties hereto to be made on or
