2 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DEOL.l\.RING
PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES TO BE USED IN THE CONSTRUCTION
3 OF ASPHALT CONCRETE PAVEMENT, AND APPURTENANCES IN OITY HALL
YARD, 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE, IN THE CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA,
4 IN ACOORDANOE WITH ENGINEER'S SPECIFICATIONS NO. 162.
5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1. The City Council of the City of Vernon
has ascertained and does hereby find and declare that the gen-
eral prevailing rate per diem for wages for laborers, workmen
and mechanics employed by contractors and sub-contractors, for
the doing of any work set forth in Specifications No. 162, which
Specifications wers duly adoptsd by ths City Council on ~
5 , 1952, in Resolution No. /S?5', is as follows:
The general prevailing rate of the per diem wages~
rates for Legal Holidays, and overtime work, in the locality in
which this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of

workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will
be awarded to the successful bidder, is determined to be as
follows:
Foremen: All Foremen not herein separately classified shall be
paid not less than $1.40 per day more than the journeyman rate
for the craft involved.
Apprentices: May be employed in conformity with Section 1777.5
of the California Labor Code.

Provided that not less than one and one-half times the
prevailing rate shall be paid for any working time more than
eight hours during anyone ca1enda.r day, and for time on
Saturdays, Sundays and the seven legal ho1idays,.to-wit:
New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Armistice
Day" Thanksgiving Day and Christmas.
Provided that notwithstanding the general provision con-
tained herein, Watchmen shall be paid time and one-half" for
all time worked in excess of eight (8) hours per day and for
the sixth consecutive day worked; and double time for the seventh
consecutive day worked. Watchmen shall also receive time and
one-half for holidays except where a holiday falls on the seventh
consecutive day worked, which shall be double time.
The foregoing prevailing wage schedule is based upon a
working day of eight hours and in the event that laborers, work-
men or mechanics are employed less than eight hours per day, the
rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that fraction of the
foregoing rates that the number of hours of employment bears to
eight.

The rate of compensation for any classification not listed
in the schedule but which may be required to execute the proposed
work, shall be commensurate and in accord with the rates speci-
fied for similar and comparable classification for those per-
forming similar or comparable duties.

Seotion 2. The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in fUll force and effect.
