3 A RESOLUTION OF THE OITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DECLARING
ITS INTENTION TO APPLY FOR ~mMBERSHIP IN THE I~TROPOLITAN WATER
4 DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.
5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF V~rmON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
6 WHEREAS, it has been reliably determined that there is a
7 serious overdraft of water from the underground water supply in
8 the Central Basin due to production necessary to meet the needs
9 of industrial and population expansion; and
10 WHEREAS, the City of Vernon concurs in the general opinion
11 of water producers of the Central Basin that a secondary water
12 supply is essential to provide the Central Basin, its inhabitants,
13 and industry with a dependable supply of water to meet present and
14 future needs; and
15 WHEREAS, it may be possible to obtain a secondary water
16 supply for the Central Basin from.the Metropolitan Water District;
1 7 and
18 WHEREAS, an effort is presently being made to form a
19 Municipal Water District, proposed to be known as the Central Basin
20 Municipal Water District, for annexation to the Metropolitan Water
21 District; and
22 WHEREAS, the City of Vernon desires to annex to the Metro-
23 politan Water District as a separate municipality;
24 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:

take all steps necessary to apply for membership in, and annex to
the Metropolitan Water District, as a separate municipal unit, on
as favorable terms as are accepted by the Central Basin Municipal
Water District, and will call a Municipal election for the purpose
of submitting the question of annexation to said Metropolitan Water
District to the voters of the City of Vernon on the same date

The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
Section 2.
4 hereby directed to certify to the passage of this resolution
5 and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in fUll force
6 and effect.

I, G. A. ANDERSON, City Clerk of the City of Vernon, do
hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution No. 15"88 was duly
