The City Council of the City of Vernon 7 has ascertained and does hereby find and declare that the general 8 prevailing rate per diem for wages for laborers, workmen and 9 mechanics employed by contractors and sub-contractors, for the 10 doing of any work set forth in Specifications No. 165, which 11 Specifications were duly adopted by the City Council on May ~9, 12 1952, in Resolution No. 1595, is as follows: 13 The general prevailing rate of the per diem wages, rates for Legal Holidays, and overtime work, in the locality in which this work is to be performed, for each craft or type of 14 15 16 17 18 workman or mechanic needed to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful bidder, is determined to be as follows: Foremen: All Foremen not herein separately classified shall be paid not less than $1.40 per day more than the journeyman rate for the craft involved. 19 20 21 Appre.nt..ices: May be employed in conformity with Section 1777.5 of the California Labor Code. CI ~ <t ~~~ U ~ ~ 31 :r .. .. 1 TITLE OF P~SITION RATE PER DAY ,j . 2 Truck Driver - Under 6 Tons Truck Driver - 6 Tons to 10 Tons 3 Truck Driver - 10 Tons to 15 Tons Truck Driver - 15 Tons to 20 Tons 4 Truck Driver - 20 Tons or More $ ll~.64 14.80 15.20 15.84 17.44 5 Provided that not less than one and one-half times the 6 prevailing rate shall be paid for any working time more than eight 7 hours during anyone calendar day, and for time on Saturdays" 8 Sundays and the seven legal holidays, to-wit: New Year's Day, 9 Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Armistice Day" Tha.nksgiving 10 Day and Christmas. Provided that notwithstanding the general provision con- tained herein, Watchmen shall be paid time and one-half, for all time worked in excess of eight (8) hours per day and for the sixth 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 consecutive day worked; and double time for the seventh consecutive day worked. Watchmen shall also receive time and one-half for holidays except where a holiday falls on the seventh consecutive day worked, which shall be double time. The foregoing prevailing wage schedule is based upon a 18 19 working day of eight hours and in the event that laborers, workmen or mechanics are employed less than eight hours per day, the rate of per diem wages shall be deemed to be that fraction of the fore- 20 21 22 going rates that the number of hours of employment bears to eight. The rate of compensation for any classification not listed in the schedule but which may be required to execute the proposed work, shall be commensurate and in accord with the rates specified 23 24 25 for similar and comparable classification for those performing similar or comparable duties. Sect10n 2. The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and there- after the same shall be 1n full force and effect. 32 2.
