THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS: 5 6 THAT WHEREAS, an application for zoning variance was filed with the City Clerk on the 2nd day of July, 1952 by the 7 Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation for a variance under the 8 provisions of Section 6.1 of Ordinance No. 541 of the City of 9 10 Vernon, as amended by Ordinance No. 641, on that certain parcel of land situated in the City of Vernon and more particularly described as follows, to wit: The northerly 50-foot strip as outlined in red on the photostat attached to the Petition and made a part thereof, lying parallel with and along the northern boundary line of a parcel of land described as follows: Those portions of Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 19 and 20 in Block 45 of Huntington Park Extension No. 2, in the City of Vernon, County of Los Angeles, State of California, as per map recorded in Book 11, Page 6 of Maps, in the office of the County Recorder of said County, and a portion of the Rancho San Antonio in said City, described as a whole as follows: 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 Beginning at the Southeast corner of the parcel of land conveyed to the Mechanical Pattern Works, by deed re- corded in Book 2737, Page 143, Official Records of said County; thence along the South line of the land so con- veyed, South 890 31' 30" West 421.91 feet to a point distant Easterly 85 feet, measured at right angles, from the East lineof the 60 foot right of way conveyed to the California Central Railway Company, by deed recorded in Book 557, Page 82 of Deeds, Records of said County; thence parallel with the East line of said right of way South 00 08' 30" West 200.01 feet; thence North 890 31' 3011 East 556.86 feet to a point in the Northeasterly line of said Block 45, said Northeasterly line being a curve concave to the Southwest, having a radius of 894.25 feet, a radial line from said point bearing South 630 39' 18" West; thence Northwesterly along said Northeasterly line of Block L~5, 240.80 feet to the point of beginning; and 20 21 22 23 24 25 WHER&\S, the application for variance was regularly set for hearing before the City Council on the 26th day of August, 1952 at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m. in the Council Chambers at the City Hall, 10cated at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, in the City of 32 Vernon, California; and -1- 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 ~ 26 z c .. 0: N 0 27 a:: 1'1 II. 1'1 <( .. - 0 m)oz5~~ ..m~~~u,;, 28 ::I 0: 0: . - z 0J:0"'0 ~ ~ '" I->~O:o !1 ail-.... <( -' 29 .. <( 0 u D.. w ~z)o~o: z ~ Ol--ij 0 :I: lIlUU" I- ~ 30 a:: .. Z 31 ::J J: 32 .L... 1_ ( WHEREAS, all notices as required under said Ordinance were regularly and duly giv~n of the time and place of said hearing, and the City Council having heard the matter on the 26th day of August, 1952 at the hour of 10 o'clock a.m. and on the 2nd day of September, 1952 at the hour of 2 0' clock p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Council, and all evidence was heard from all persons interested in affecting said variance, and also from all persons protesting the same, and the City Engineer having filed his report herein, and the City Council having heard all the evidence and statements of said persons and being fully in- formed in the premises the matter was submitted for decision, and on the 16th day of September, 1952, the Council considered the application and made the following findings and decisions: NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON FINDS AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the property hereinabove referred to and described is suitable for the purpose for Wllich the petitioner requesting said variance intends to use it, to wit: for the construction of a building to house sand handling and molding equipment and the use of said equipment therein. 2. That unnecessary hardship would be put upon petitioner . as the owner of said property in the use of said property if its request for a variance was denied. 3. That results inconsistent with the general purpose of Ordinance No. 541, as amended by Ordinance No. 640, would result if the request for such variance was denied. 4. That there are exceptional or extraordinary circum- stances or conditions applicable to the property involved, or to the intended use of the property, that do not apply generally to the property or class of uses in the same district or zone. 5. That the granting of such variance will not be materially detrimental to the public welfare, or injurious to the property or improvements in such zone or district in which the property is located. NOW, THEREFORE, the variance covering the property hereinabove described is granted for the period of fifteen (15) years, for the construction of a building to house sand handling and molding equipment and the use of said equipment therein, subject to the following terms and conditions which the City Council deems proper to preserve the public health, safety, con- venience, welfare and the general intent and purposes of the zoning ordinance, as funended: 1. That no cupolas or mel~ing furnaces be installed on said Parcel of land for which zone variance is requested and that no additional cupolas or melting furnaces be installed on the property now Q'l,ved and operated as Metal Foundry by Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, Mechanical Foundries Division, at 4545 Pacific Boulevard, Vernon, California. 2. That masonry wall, 9 feet 6 inches high, be constructed across Pacific Boulevard frontage of said Parcel to screen opera- tions from public view, said wall to be returned along south side of Parcel to building. Gates to be of solid construction. 3. That all regulations of City of Vernon Building Depart- ment and Fire Department be complied with in connection with construction of buildings and installation of equipment on said Parcel. 4. That all regulations of the Los Angeles County Air Pollution Control District be complied with in connection with installation of equipment on said Parcel. 5. That masonry wall, 9 feet 6 inches high be constructed along Pacific Boulevard to replace existing wood fences on prop- erty now ownenand operated as Metal Foundry by Food Machinery -3- 1 . ,...
