A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZ-
3 ING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC
WORKS OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
11 NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED:

Section 1:
That the City enter into an accumulation
agreement with said Department covering the 1953 fiscal year
in terms and figures as follows, to wit:

"ACCUMULATION AGREEMENT - 1953 FISCAL YEAR
"MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT entered into by and be-

tween the City of Vernon, hereinafter referred to as

the City, and the Department of Public Works of the
State of California, hereinafter referred to as the
department,
"WITNESSETH, THAT, WHEREAS, in accordance with the
provisions of Section 194 of the Streets and Highways
Code, the department shall expend or cause to be expend-

ed within the cities of this State the amount trans-
25
ferred to the State Highway Fund in accordance with Sec-
tion 2107 for expenditure upon major city streets in the
proportion that the total population of each city bears
to the total population of all cities in this State; and
"WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 200 of
the Streets and Highways Code the city desires to author-
ize the accumulation of funds accruing to said city
curing the fiscal year ending June 30, 1953;

1 "NOW, THEREFORE, it is mutually agreed that the de-
2 partment will accumulate and hold for future expenditure
3 within the city, or until such time as the city submits a
4 budget in accordance with the provisions of Section 197
5 of the Streets and Highways Code, all funds accruing from
6 the gas tax allocation to cities during the fiscal year
7 ending June 30,1953;
8 "IN WITNESS WHE~OF, the parties hereunto have
9 affixed their signatures and official seals, the city on

of the State of California, together with letter of instructions
from the State Highway Departmen~ providing for accumulation
by the Department of Public Works of gas tax funds, accruing

third copy of the Agreement has been placed in City Engineer's
file.
It is reco~~ended that Resolution be approved, pro-

within your city for the 1953 fiscal year, in accordance
with the project statement submitted by you.
You wil1 find attached to each copy a suggested form
of resolution for execution of the agreement by the city.
The form has been prepared for the city's convenience and
need not be used if it conflicts with the city's practiceo
The agreement should be signed by an official duly
authorized by law to execute agreements.on behalf of the
city and should be accompanied by a certified copy of the
resolution of. the city council approving the agreement and
authori~ing the officer to sign said agreement.
Your attention is called to the white slip attached
to.the original and duplicate copies, and also to the neces-
sity of dating the agreement and affixing the official seal
of the city to the agreement and accompanying resolutiono
After the agreement has been signed by the city, please
return the original and dupliqate to this office; the.. third
enclosed copy is for your files. Following the execution
of the ori&inal and dlJ.plicate copy by the Director of Public
