Gentlemen:
Mr. Harry V. Green, Water Department employee, reached
the man,datory retirement age of seventy on January ll, 1953, but
under ~ections 21000-2l002 of the Retirement Law his compulsory
retirement was deferred. The defeyment was terminated on September
8, 19S3 and he has now retired under the State Employees' Retire-
ment System, after seven years emplo~nent by the City.
In lieu of the monthly pension pa;;rment, Mr. Green elected
to withdraw his contributions to the retirement fund in one lump
sum. To accomplish this, it was necessary for him to resign on
September 4, 1953 in accordance with instructions from the Retire-
ment System.
The City of Vernon Employe~s have presented Mr. Green
with a money order in the amount of ~p91.60, as a retirement present,
the money being raised by voluntar~T contribution.
I have written a letter to Mr. Green, (copy of which is
attached), thanking him for his loyal services to the City. It
is recornrnended that a Resolution of the City Council to that effect
be given to him also.

Re: Resolution No. 1683 and request by
William J. Moran Company for Special
Use and Occupancy Permit.
Gentlemen:
This matter was referred to me at the last
meeting of the City Council and I have examined the
filed and talked to Mr. Robert I.McKee of the William
J. Moran Company and discussed with him the contents
of his letter of November 9th with enclosures.
Mr. McKee readily admitted that all that was
needed for their operations was a certified copy of
Resolution No. 1683 of the City of Vernon and he will
call upon the City Clerk for a certified copy. This,
I believe, closes the matter of the special use and
occupancy permit.
I am returning herewith the file the City
