Section 1. The City Council of the City of Vernon has
ascertained and does hereby find and declare that the general

prevailing rate per diem for wages for laborers, workmen and mechanics
employed by contractors and sub-contractors, for the doing of any
work set rorth in Specifications No. 174, which Specifications were
duly adopted by the City Council on ~ '7 , 1953, in
Resoluti(m No. I'~ii!) 5' , is as follows:

The general prevailing rate of the per diem wages, rates
for Legal Holidays, and overtime work, in the locality in which this
work is to be performed, for each craft or type of workman or

Foreman: Shall be paid not less than l7! cents per hour more than
the hourly rate of the highest classification over vd1ich he has
supervision.

1 For any craft not included in the above list, the minimum
2 per diem wages shall be the general prevailing wages ror the
3 localit-;r, and shall be not less than $16.40 per day.
4 The foregoing schedule of per diem wages is based upon
5 a working day of eight (8) hours. The 110urly v~ge rate shall be
6
the per diem rate divided by the aforementioned number of hours
7
constituting a working day.

Notice is also hereby given that, pursuant to said Labor
9
Code or California, it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to
10
whom the contract is awarded, and upon any sub-contractor under him,
11
12
to pay to all laborers, workmen or mechanics employed by them in
the execution of the contract not less than the said specified rates,
13
which rates shall be included in the contract to the successrul
14
bidder.

Section 2. The City Clerk or the Cit-;l of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
Adopted and approved at a regular meeting of said
