A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DIRECTING
3 THE GIVING OF NOTICE INVITING SEALED PROPOSALS OR BIDS FOR THE
FURNISHING OF ALL LABOR, MATERIAL, TRANSPORTATION, A.ND SERVICES
4 FOR THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF ONE DEEP WELL TURBINE
PUMP WITH ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVING UNIT AND APPURTENANCES FOR WATER
5 WELL NO.7 LOCATED IN CITY HALL YARD AT 4305 SANTA FE AVENUE,
IN THE CITY OF VERNON.

7 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES A.S FOLLOWS:

Section 1: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
9 hereby directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or bids
10 for the furnishing of all labor, material, transportation and
11 services for the furnishing and installation of one (1) deep well
12 turbine pump with electric motor driving unit and appurtenances
13 for Water Well No. 7 located in the City Hall Yard at 4305 Santa
14 Fe Avenue, in the City of Vernon, in accordance with Specifications
15 No. 176.

Section 2: There being no newspaper of general circula-
tion printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon,
the City Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause
the same to be posted, in three of the most public places in said
City, to wit: The northwest corner of 38th Street and Santa Fe
Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and Pacific
Boulevard, and on the bulletin board in the lobby of the City
Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue in
said City.
Section 3: The first posting of said notice shall be
not less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids for
the furnishing of the proposed material and work.
The Notice shall distinctly state the material to be
furnished and labor to be performed.
Section 4: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and

1 thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

THE FURNISHING AND INSTALLATION OF ONE DEEP
WELL TURBINE PUMP WITH ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVING
UNIT, AND APPURTENANCES, FOR WATER WELL NO. 7
IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS NO. 176 OF
THE CITY OF VERNON, CALIFORNIA.

Pursuant to an order of the City Council of the City of
Vernon, California, given on the 5th day of January, 1954, directing
same, notice is hereby given that sealed proposals or bids will be
received by the City of Vernon, California, at the Office of the

8 City Clerk of said City, at the City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue,
9 until the hour of two (2) o'clock P.M. on the 19th day of January,

1954, for the.furnishing of all labor, material, transportation, and
services for the furnishing and installation of one (1) deep well
turbine pump with electric motor driving unit and appurtenances for
the City or Vernon, at the well site known as Well No.7, located
in City Hall Yard at 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon, California, in

accordance with Specifications No. 176, heretofore approved by the

City Council of said City and now on file in the Office of the
City Clerk, a copy of which may be obtained from the City Engineer
18 of said City.

Bidders are hereby notified that, pursuant to the pro-
20
visions of Sections 1770-1781, inclusive, Labor Code of Cali-
21
fornia, the City Council of the City of Vernon has ascertained the
22
general prevailing rate of per diem wages and rates for legal
holidays and over~t1me work in the locality in which this work is to
23

be performed, for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed
25
to execute the contract which will be awarded to the successful

4 For any craft not included in the above list, the minimum
5 per diem wages shall be the general prevailing wages for the
6 locality, and shall be not less than $14.08 per day.
7 The foregoing schedule of per diem wages is based upon
8
a working day of eight (8) hours. The houz:ly wage rate shall
be the per diem rate divided by the aforementioned number of hours
constituting a working day.
Notice is also hereby given that, pursuant to said Labor
Code of California, it shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to
whom the contract is awarded, and upon any subcontractor under him,
to pay to all laborers, workmen or mechanics employed by them in the
execution of the contract not less than the said specified rates,
which rates shall be included in the contract to the successful

bidder.

Notice is further hereby given that all bidders may submit
with their bids a sworn statement of their financial responsibility,
tehcnica1 ability and experience. Such sworn statement may be re-
19

quired to be furnished before award is made to any particular bidder.
To be entitled to consideration, each bid submitted pur-
suant to this notice shall be made out on a form to be obtained at
23

the Office of the City Engineer; shall be accompanied by a certified
check, draft or bid bond, payable at a bank authorized to do business
in the State of California, made payable at sight to the City Clerk
of the said City of Vernon, in amount equal to ten per cent (10%)
of the bid submitted, shall be delivered to the City Clerk of the
City of Vernon in a sealed envelope at, or before, the time stated
herein, and must be plainly marked "Proposal for the Furnishing
and Installation of Deep Well Turbine Pump with Electric Motor

1 Driving Unit for the City of Vernon." All bids will be opened

and publicly read aloud at or about two (2) otclock P.M. of
the 19th of January, 1954, in the City Council Chamber.
The above mentioned check or bond shall be given as a
guarantee that the bidder will enter into a contract if awarded
to him and will be declared forfeited if the successful bidder

refuses or neglects to enter into a contract of the required form
after being requested to do so by the City Clerk of the City of
Vernon, California. The successful bidder will be required to
furnish a labor and material bond in an amount equal to fifty (50%)
per cent of the Contract price, and a faithful performance bond
in an amount equal to one hundred per cent (100%) of the contract

price.
Unless otherwise required by law, no bidder may withdraw
his bid for a period of thirty (30) days after the date set for
the opening thereof.
A deposit of Ten Dollars ($10.00) will be required to

secure the Specifications, as a guarantee that the Specifications
will be returned, which deposit will be refunded in case same are
19
20
returned to the City in good condition not later than forty-eight
(48) hours after the bids on the work will have been opened.
The City of Vernon reserves the right to reject any and
all bids or waive any informality in the bid.
