RESOLUTION NO. 1731 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DIRECTING THE PAINTING OF CURBS AND INSTALLING STREET SIGNS. . THE CITY COUNCIL OF ~tlE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREAS, Ernest Giles, Chief of Police of the City of Vernon, recommends that the stopping, standing and parking of vehicles be prohibited at the hereinafter named intersections, except as permitted under Section 7 of Ordinance No. 642 of the City of Vernon; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon finds it necessary for the safety of traffic ~~d to expedite the move- ment of traffic, that stopping, standing and parking of vehicles be prohibited in the areas hereinafter described; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: Section 1: That the following areas at the intersections herein specified, be painted or posted as required by subdivision 4, Section 7 of Ordinance No. 642 of the City of Vernon: (a) Santa Fe Avenue and the intersecting streets for 50 feet in each direction from the intersection of Santa Fe Avenue with the following named streets: 25th Street, 26th Street, 38th Street, Vernon Avenue, 49th Street, 55th Street, and North of 57th Street, and the entire east and west curbs of Santa Fe Avenue south from 57th Street to the South City limits of the City of Vernon. Z '" c( 0 - I- o :: ~ ::J 31 :I ~-~ .. 1 Boulevard and Fruitland Avenue. 2 (d) Bickett Street from the south city limits to 54th 3 Street on both s ides of the street; 4 (e) Soto Street and the intersecting streets for 50 5 feet in each direction from the intersection of Soto Street with 6 the follow ing named streets: 26th Street, 37th Street, Vernon 7 Avenue, Leonis Boulevard and Fruitland Avenue; 8 (f) Fifteen feet of curb on each side of private or 9 public driveways, entering or leaving private property onto 10 public streets of the City of Vernon; 11 (g) Fifteen feet of curb on each side of all fire hydrants, and twenty-five feet of curb at all right hand curbs 12 13 14 approaching railway tracks, on all public streets of the City of Vernon; 15 Section 2: The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall 16 17 18 19 20 21 22 23 24 25 STATE OF CALIFORNIA COUNTY OF LOS ANGELES certify to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect. On occasion the City Council has indicated its approval of the installation of "No Parking" areas at certain locations, but the minutes have not re- flected the Council's authorization. If it meets with the approval of the Council, I would like to have specific authorization entered in the minutes for the areas in question. That the City Council authorizes the Police Department to have the curbs painted red at the following places, or signs to be erected where there are no curbs. Fifty feet of red on Santa Fe ave. at 25th street, 26th street, 36th street, Vernon Ave., 49th street and 55th street, also the east and west curbs on Santa Fe Ave. from south City limits to 57th street. Fifty feet of red on Boyle Ave. at Vernon Ave., Leonis Blvd., 50th street, Fruitland Ave., 54th street and Slauson Ave. Fifty feet of red on Downey road at 26th street, Vernon Ave., Leonis Blvd., and Fruitland Ave. Bickett street, from south city limits to 54th street on both sides of the street.
