A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING
APPLICATION FOR I~TCHING FUNDS FROM THE FEDERAL CIVIL DEFENSE
ADMIN IS TRATION .

5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
6 WHEREAS, the Federal Matching Funds program of the
7 Federal Civil Defense Administration has a plan for matching
8 funds with municipalities for civil defense expense; and
9 Wh~REAS, the City of Vernon is in need of new equipment
10 to adequately give attack warning signals and all clear signals; and
11 WHEREAS, the cost of new equipment is estimated to be
12 the sum of Four Thousand One Hundred Forty-eight Dollars ($4l48);

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
Section 1:
The City Council of the City of Vernon
directs that application be made to the proper Federal authorities
for matching funds for the cost of such equipment and installation.
Section 2:
That Mayor R. J. Furlong be and he is hereby
authorized to make application for said funds for and on behalf of
the City of Vernon.
Section 3:
That the facilities of the City Engineer's
office be and they are hereby placed at the disposal of the
Mayor and Director of Civil Defense for assistance in presenting
said application and furnishing specifications for materials and
installation.
Section 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of .this Resolution, and thereupon and
thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPrED and APPROVED this 16th day of March, 1954.
