THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is
9 hereby directed to give notice inviting sealed proposals or
10 bids for the furnishing and delivery to the City of Vernon of
11 one hydraulic sand extractor, vertical non-vortex type, con-
12 structed in accordance with Drawing No. 11015 - Ex 33.1, dated
13 October 21, 1953, of Leeds, Hill and Jewett, Consulting Engineers
14 of Los Angeles, California.

Section 2:
There being no newspaper of general cir-
cu1ation printed, published and circulated in the City of Vernon,
the City Clerk is hereby directed to post said notice, or cause
the same to be posted, in three of the most public places in
said City, to wit: The northwest corner of 38th Street and
Santa Fe Avenue; the northeast corner of Leonis Boulevard and
Pacific Boulevard; and on the bulletin board in the lobby of
the City Hall of the City of Vernon, located at 4305 Santa Fe
Avenue in said City.
Section 3:
The first posting of said notice shall
be not less than ten (10) days before the date of opening bids
for the proposed equipment.
The Notice shall distinctly state the equipment to be
furnished.
Section 4:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon

2 and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.

FOR THE FURNISHING AND DELIVERY TO THE
OITY OF VERNON OF ONE SAND EXTRACTOR FOR
WATER WELL NO. 13 OF THE OITY OF VERNON

4 Pursuant to an order of the City Council of the City ot
5 Vernon, Oalifornia, given this 20th day of ApPil,1954, directing
6 this notice, notice is hereby given that sealed proposals or bids will
7 be received by the Oity of Vernon, California, at the office oftb,e
8 City Olerk in the Oity Hall, 4305 San ta Fe Avenue, Vernon, Oalifornia,
9 until the hour of two (2:00) o'clock P.M. on the 4th day or May,1954,
10 for the furnishing and delivery, F.O.B. on City prepared foundation,
11 at well site of Well No. 13 of the City of Vernon 'later Department
12 looated on the south side of 50th Street Japproximately 690 feet west
13 of Downey Road in the City of Vernon, the following desoribed sand
14 extractor equipment:

One (1) unit of complete Hydraulio Sand Extractor,
vertical non~vortex type, constructed in accordance
wi th plans and specifications shown on Drawing No.
11015-Ex33.1, dated Oct~ 21, 1953, of Leeds, Hill
and Jewett, Oonsulting Engtneers, Los Angeles,
Oalifornia, exolusive of authority from said consult-
ing engineers tor construction or use of their
patented equipment, (U.S. Patent No. 2566662, Septem-
ber 4, 19511, said unit to be painted outside with
shop coat of red lead.

21 METHOD OF PAYMENT

Payment will be made out of funds provided for such purpose
I
23 and shall be made out on demands ordered and paid in such manner as
24 other payments made by the Oi ty out of said .funds. Ninety (90%) of
25 the contract price will be paid upon final acceptance by the City
~ 26 Council of the completed work and the balance thirty-five (35) d9s

accept any bid, which in its judgment shall produce the most satis-
ractory and economical result, suited to the requirement or the City.
The bidder is required to speeiry the proposed date or delivery, and
the City Council will take into consideration, in awarding the con-
tract, the time required to deliver said equipment_

SOHEDULE OF PROPOSALS:

Each proposal must be delivered to the Oity Clerk or the
City or Vernon, at said City Hall, 4305 Santa Fe Avenue, Vernon,
California, in seal ed envelope at or berore the time stated in this

10 notice and must be plainly marked UProposal ror the~rnish1ng and

Delivery or Sand ~tractor ror the City or Vernon."; No oral, tele-
graphic or telephonic proposal will be accepted.

13 BOND REQUIREMENTS :

All bids must be accompanied by certified check or draft
payable at any bank authorized to do business in the. State or Cali-
rornia, payable at sight to the City Clerk or the City or Vernon,
or a bidders t bond i$sued by bonding company authorized to do business

in the State or Calirornia.
Smd certiried check or bond shall be in

an amount equal to ten percent (lO%) of the bid submitted.
The

successful bidder will be requlred to furnish a rai thful performance
21
bond in amount equal to one hundred (lOO) percent of the contract

Unsuccessful bidders' checks will be returned or bond
cancel1e d when contract is awarded. Successful bidders' oheck will
be returned and bond cancelled when contract is signed and said
faithful performance bond is furnished and approved.
