THAT WHEREAS, on the 4th day of May, 1954, at 2 o'clock p.m.
sealed bids were opened for the construction of Fire Station No. 2 with
Tower and appurtenances, including handball court, curbs, sikewalks,
asphaltic and concrete pavements, retaining wall, and other site improve-
ments at 3375 FruiUand Avenue, Vernon, California, in accordance ,with
Specifications No. 174, including Addenda No.1 and 2 to said specifications,
dated Dec'ember 9~: 1953 and March 15, 1954, respectively; and Plans or
Drawings No. B14-1275 -Sheet No.1 dated November 12, 1953 as revised
March 15, 1954; Sheets No.2, 3 and 4 dated November 12, 1953, Sheet No.
5 dated November 12, 1953 as revised March 15, 1954, Sheets No.6, 7,
S-l, S-2, S-3,andS-4 dated November 12, 1953 and Sheets No. E-1 and M-l
dated November 12, 1953 as revised March 15, 1954; and
WHEREAS, said bids were referred to Walter B. Hollingworth,
City Engineer, for checking; and
WHEREAS, Specifications No. 174 were heretofore approved by the
City Council of the City of Vernon by Resolution No. 1705, and Addendum No.
1 to said Specifications No. 174 were heretofore approved by the City Council
of the City of Vernon by Resolution No., 1711: and
WHEREAS, Walter B. Hollingworth, City Engineer, reports to the
City Council under date of May 14, 1954, advising that the bid of Winter
Construction Co. Inc., in the net sum of $143,333.00 is the lowest bid for
said work and material;

NOW. THEREFORE., BE IT RESOLVED:
Section ,1:
That the City Council of the City of Vernon does hereby
authorize the execution ofa contract as set forth in Specifications No. 174
with the Winter Construction Co. Inc. t for the doing of the work and fur-
nishingpf the materials as set forth in Specifications No. 174 and Addenda
No.1 and 2 to said Specifications and Plansand Drawings as above set forth.
Section 2:
That all other bids are rejected, and the City Clerk is
hereby instructed and empowered to return all checks to unsuccessful bidders;
Section 3:
The City Cle,rk of the City of Vernon shall certify to
the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon and thereafter the same shall
be in full force .and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED at an adjourned regular meeting of said
City Council this 21st day of May, 1954.
