A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON AWARD-
3 ING CONTRACT TO N. P. VAN VALKENBURGH COHPANY, A PARTNER~HIP,
FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, INSTALLATION, AND DELIVERY, COMPLETE IN
4 PLACE, OF CAST IRON WATER ~~INS, AND APPURTENANCES, IN VERNON
AVENUE FROM ALCOA AV~NUE TO DOWNEY ROAD, IN DOWNEY ROAD FROM
5 VERNON AVENUE TO FRUITLAND AVENUE, AND IN FRUI'rLAND AVENU,E
FROM ALCOA AVENUE TO DOWI~ ROAD IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS
6 NO. 180 OF SAID CITY, AND PLANS NOS. B4C-1297, ~4C~1298, and
B4C-1299.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
THAT WHEREAS, on the 21st day of July, 1954, sealed

bids were opened for the construction, installation and delivery,
complete in place, of cast iron water mains, and appurtenances,
in Vernon Avenue from Alcoa Avenue to Downey Road, in Downey
Road from Vernon Avenue to Fruitland Avenue, and in Fruitland
Avenue from Alcoa Avenue to Downey Road, in accordance with
Specifications No. 180 and Plans Nos. B4C-1297, B4c-1298 and
B4C-1299 of said City; and
WHEREAS, said bids were referred to A. W. Phillips,
Associate Engineer, for checking; and
WHEREAS, Specifications No. 180 and City Engineer's
Drawings, Plans Nos. B4c-1297, B4C-1298 and B4C-1299 were hereto-
fore approved by the City Council of the City of Vernon by
Resolution No. 1757; and
WHEREAS, A. W. Phillips, Associate Engineer, reports to
the City Council under date of July 23, 1954, advising that the
bid of N. p. Van Valkenburgh Co. a partnership, in the net sum
of $76,LI-40.00 is the lowest bid for said work and material;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RES OLVED:
Section 1:
That the City Council of the City of
Vernon does hereby authorize the execution of a contract as set
forth in Specifications No. 180 with N. P. Van Valkenburgh Co.
a partnership, for the doing of the work and furnishing of the

Section 2:
That all other bids are rejected, and
5 the City Clerk is hereby instructed and empowered to return all
6 checks to unsuccessful bidders;

Section 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon

shall certify to the passage of this Resolution, and thereupon
and thereafter the same shall be in full force and effect.
