.A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
RECOMMENDING ANNEXATION OF CENTRAL BASIN MUNICIPAL WATER
DISTRICT TO THE METROPOLITAN WATER DISTRICT OF SOUTHERN
CALIFORNIA.

6 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
7 WHER.EAS, the Central Basin faces a future water shortage
8 because of the overdraft on ground water resources amounting to 32
9 billion gallons annually; and
10 WHEREAS, the most practical, economical and dependable supply
11 of additional water can be obtained through annexation of Central Basin
12 Municipal Water District to the Metropolitan Water District of Southern
13 California;
14 NOWs THEREFOREs BE IT RESOLVED:

16 record as favoring such annexation;
SECTION 1: That the City Council of the City of Yernon go on
SECTION 2: That the City Council of the City of Vernon urges
18 all registered voters to vote YES in the special election on September 21st
19 on the proposition to annex the Central Basin Municipal Water District~to
20 the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.

SECTION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify
to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall
be in full force and effect. The City Clerk is hereby authorized to send a
copy of this Resolution to the Central Basin Municipal Water District and to
the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
