OF THE CITY OF VERNON AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT EXTENDING TlM.E FOR SIx MONTHS FOR COMMENCEMENT OF WORK PROVIDED FOR IN AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC RAILROAD COM- PANY. A CORPORATION OF THE STATES OF CALIFOaNIA. .ARIZONA AND NEW MEXICO. AND ITS LESSEE, SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY. A CORPORATION OF THE STATE OF DELAWARE" AND THE CITY OF VERNON" A MUNICIPAL CORPORATION. DATED DECEMBER 2nd, 1953. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: 4 5 6 7 8 WHEREAS,. on the 2nd day of December, 1953,. the Southern 9 Pacific Railroad Company, a corporation of the States of California,. Arizona and New Mexico and its Lessee, Southern Pacific Company, a corporation of t.he State of Delaware,. hereinafter referred ~o as "Railroad" and the City of Vernon. entered into an agreement whereby the Railroad granted to the City of Vernon real property of the Railroad in the City of Vernon, County of L.os Angeles, State of fOa1i:fornia" the location of which is shown outlined in yellow on print of Los: Angeles Division Drawing B-2832, Sheet No.1, Revised September 10, 1953, attached to said Agreement of December 2, 1953; and WHEREAS, said grant required work to be commenced within one year from the date of said grant; and WHEREAS, the Railroa.d agrees to extend said time of commenc- ing the work for a period of six months upon acceptance of said extension by the City of Vernon; and WHEREAS,. the City Engineer of the City of Vernon recommends that the City accept said six monthst extension of time; NOW" THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED: SECTION 1: That the City of Vernon accept the six u:nolttha;' extension of time a.soffered by said Railroad,. and that the Mayor and City Clerk of the City of Vernon are hereby instructed to execute, on behalf of the City of Vernon, an agreement with the Railroad extending for six months the time set forth in the Agreement of December 2, 1953,. in which the work shaII be commenced. --1... 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 l 1 SECTION 2: The City Clerk of the CUyof Vernon shall 2 certify to th.e passage of this resolution and thereupon ahd therea.fter 3 the same shall be in full force and effect. 4 ADOPTED and APPROVED this 7th. day of December, 1954. 5 6 7 8 ffST: ~~~_-J l City Clerk STATE OF CALIFORNIA ) ) ss.
