A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNC~ OF THE CITY OF VERNON
ACCEPTING THE CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATION OF CAST IRON
WATER MAlNS~ AND APPURTENANCES" IN VERNON AVENUE FROM
ALCOA AVENUE TO DOWNEY ROAD" IN DOWNEY ROAD FROM VERNON
AVENUE TO FRUITLAND AVENUE" AND IN FRUITLAND AVENUE FROM
ALCOA AVENUE TO DOWNEY ROAD" WITH THE EXCEPTION OF CERTAIN
GATE VALVE MANHOLES AND PERMANENT TOPS TO CERTAIN OTHER
MANHOLES TO BE CONSTRUCTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICA-
TIONS NO. 180 AND CONTRACT A W.AR.DED JULY 27,. 1954, AND
AUTHORIZING 90% PAYMENT OF CONTRACT PRICE.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

10 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Vernon did heretofore
11 enter into a contract dated July 27, 1954, with N. P. Van Valkenburgh
12 Company for the construction and installation of cast iron water mains,
13 and appurtenances,. in Vernon Avenue from Alcoa Avenue to Downey Road,
14 in Downey Road from Vernon Avenue to Fruitland Avenue, and in Fruitland
15 Avenue from Alcoa Avenue to Downey Road; and
16 WHEREAS, the City Engineer of the City of Vernon has reported,
17 under date of December2(), 1954,. that said work has been completed with
18 the exception of the installation of certain ga.te valve manholes and certain
19 permanent tops to be put on several other manholes, which work cannot be
20 done until the County Road Department completes certain work in said
21 streets, and said City Engineer recommends tentative acceptance of said
22 work and reports that the Contractor has agreed to complete the work,.
23 without additional charge to the City of Vernon.
24 NOW" THEREFORE.. BE IT RESOLVED:

SECTION 1:
That the construction and installation of cast
iron water mains... and appurtenances,. in V ernon Avenue from Alcoa Avenue
to Downey Road, in Downey Road from Vernon Avenue to Fruitland Avenue,
and in Fruitland Avenue from Alcoa Avenue to Downey Road be tentatively
accepted in accordance with Specifications No. 180 and City Engineer's
Drawings, Plans Nos. B4C...1297, B4C, 1298 and B4C-1299 as set forth
in City Engineerts letter of December 20,. 1954 to the City Council; this
is not to be construed as a final acceptance of the work.

Company under said contract the sum of $68, 796.00.. being 90% of the
