A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF ESCROW INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE
PURCHASE OF A PORTION OF LOTS 7 AND 8 OF THE 500 ACRE TRACT
OF THE LOS ANGELES FRUIT LAND ASSOCIATION FROM THE ESTATE
OF JOHN B. LEONIS~DECEASED~ AND AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT
OF $1800.00 DEPOSIT IN ESCROW.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS., the City Council of the City of Vernon deems it

advisable to acquire a portion of Lots 7 and 8 of the 500 Acre Tract of
9
the Los Angeles Fruit Land Association for the further development of
said City; and
WHEREAS, said property, as hereinafter fully described,
is for sale by the estate of John B. Leonis, deceased, for the sum of
$18, 202.00; and
WHEREAS, the City Council feels that the sum so asked for
said property isa fair and reasonable sum;
NOW" THEREFORE" BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1: That the City of Vernon purchase from the
estate of John B. Leonis, deceased, the following described real prop-
erty for the sum of $18,202.00:
A parcel of land situated in the City of Vernon, County
of Los Angeles, State of California, and being a portion of Lot 7
and Lot 8, respectively, of the 500 Acre Tract of the Los Angeles
Fruit Land Association as shown on map recorded in Book 3,
Pages 156 and 157., of Miscellaneous Records, records of said
county, described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the intersection of the southerly
line of Union Pacific Railroad Right of Way (17.00 feet wide), as
described in deed recorded in Book 5909, Page 265, of Deeds,
records .of said county, with the easterly line of Los Angeles City
Power Bureau Power-Line Right of Way, (100.00 feet wide), as
described in deed recorded in Book 6702., Page 102, of Official
Records, records of said county; thence along said southerly line
of Railroad Right of Way, N. 880 55' 13" E., 309.74 feet, to a
point in beginning of curve concave to the southwest and having a
radius, 469.84 feet, which said point is also in the most northerly
corner of City of Vernon Real Property as described in Superior
Court Case No. 505 551 and recorded in Book 1596, Page 102, of
Judgments, records of said county; thence along the exterior
boundary of said City of Vernon Real Property, South 10 04l 47"
East, 17.00 feet, to corner thereof; thence continuing along said

boundary, South 880 55' 13" West, 259.72 feet., to corner thereof;
thence continuing along said boundary, South 10 08' 59" East,
258.72 feet, to corner thereof, which last said corner is in a line
drawn parallel with and perpendicularly distant 37.00 feet, northerly,
from the southerly line of the aforesaid Lots 7 and 8; thence, (leaving
the boundary lines of said City of Vernon Real Property) along said
parallel line, South 880 51' 56" West 50.00 feet, to intersection with
the aforesaid easterly line of Power-Line Right of Way; thence along
last said easterly line, North 10 08' 59" West, 275. 77 feet, more or
less, to aforesaid point of beginning.
SECTION 2:
That the Mayor and City Clerk are hereby
instructed to execute the escrow instructions submitted by the Seller on
Title Insurance and Trust Company form, for and on behalf of the City
of Vernon, for use in Escrow No. 4205889-wmf, and forward with said
escrow instructions the sum of $1800.00 as a deposit on said purchase;
SECTION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 21st day of December, 1954.
