RESOLUTION NO.
1817
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
3 EXPRESSING OPPOSITION TO ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 3762 NOW
PENDING BEFORE THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

WHEREAS,A,ssembly Bill No. 3762, now pending in the
current session of the Legislature. purports to take from the City of
Long Beach the revenue deri:ved by it from oil production on its city owned
tidelands; and

WHERE..lS~ . the City Council of the City of Vernon feels
that Assembly Bill No. 3762 would, if enacted., constitute a grievous
breach of faith on the part of the State and would constitute a grave
danger to the stability of every other coastal city in Ca.liforni.aowning
tidelands;
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Vernon
resolves as follows:
SECTION 1:
That the City Council of the City of Vernon
18 hereby urgently requests the Legislature of the State of California to
19 reject Assembly Bill No. 3762 and thereby reaffirm and strengthen the
20 bo.nd of good faith which has historically characterized the relationship
21 between the State a.nd its coastal cities.

That the City Clerk be., and he is hereby
authorized and directed to forward, without delay.. certified copies of
this resolution to the Honorable Richard Richards.. Senator from the 38th
Senatorial District; the Honorable Herbert R. Klocksiem..Member of the
Assembly from the 44th Assembly District; the Honorable W. S. (Bill)
Grant. Member of the Assembly from the 70th Assembly District.. a.nd
the Honorable Frank G. Bonelli... Member of the Assembly from the
52ndAssemblyDistrict.
SECTION 3:'
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the

I have already gone on record opposing the absconding of
Long Beach City's tideland oil moneys and shall continue
to oppose any efforts on the part of others to divert
the s e funds.
