3 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF VERNON IN SUPPORT OF ASSEMBLY

RESOLUTION NO. 1826
5 THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES as FOLLOWS!

WHEREAS. it has been the practice of some lending institutions
which finance FHA and 01 mortgages to collect from the mortgagee or
trustor or properly owner an impound deposit for the payment. of taxes and
insurance on the property covered by said mortgage,'~or trus:t deed} and
WHEREAS.. in some instances the property tax bill if! retained by
said lending institution and the a.s:.s:essee or property owner never sees: the
same and" therefore,f does not know the assessed value of his property nor
what taxes are levied against hia property; and
WHEREAS. it would be more beneficial to all owners. of property
and asgessees to know the asgessed value of their property and the amount
of taxes levied against the same as weU as the amount paid by said lending
ingtitution and charged against them for property taxes! and
WHEREAS., there is no provision in the laws of the State of
California at the present time which affords: protection to the property
owner or assessee. in respect to the foregoing,f
NOW.. THEREFORE.. BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
The City Council of the City of Vernon hereby
requests its local representatives in the State Senate and Asse.mbly to seek
approval for A. B. 1364.
SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon is directed
to send a copy of this Resolution to Senator Richard Richards. to Frank
Bonelli.. State Asae.m.blyman, and to Richard Carpenter. Executive Director
and General Counsel of the League of California Cities.
SECTION 3:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall certify
to the pass-age of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same
shall be in full force and effect.
