A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VE&NON
3 REQUESTING THE DIVISION OF HIGHWAyS TO PROVIDE FOR A
SOUTH BOUNDON-lU.NIP AT THE LONG BEACH FaEEWAY AND
4 ATLANTIC BOULEVARD.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON R.ESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

7 WHEREAS.. the City of Vernon is an industrial area in which
8 there is a large flow of traffic of employers and employees",both. night
9 and morning.. and. a. h.eavy movement of merchandise by motor vehicles
10 duringa:ll hours of the day; and
11 WHEREAS.. the City Council deSires that this t.raffic flow be
12 given careful consideration by the Division of Highways of the State of
13 California; and
14 WHEREAS", the traffic survey now being made by the City of
15 Vernon indicates an urgent need for a South .Bound On-Ramp giving .access
16 to the Long Beach Freeway at Atlantic Boulevard;
17 NOW. THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED:

That the Division of Highways of the state of
Section 1:
19 California approvepians for and provide for the construction of a South
20 Bound On-.Ramp.. giving access to the Long. Beach Freeway at Atlantic

Section 2:
That such ramp as indicated on said plan is
essential to expedite the orderly moving of traffic out ()f the highly con-
centrated industrial area in the City of Ve.rnon.
Section 3:

Please refer to your letter of JUDe 16,
19.55, with which you forwarded Resolution 1'0. 18.38
of the City Council of the City of Vernon requesting
that a southbound on-ramp be provided at the inter-
section of Atlantic Boulevard and State Highway
Route VII-LA-167 in Maywood.
The presently planned interchange provides
for all movements at the intersection, with direct
connections between Atlantic Boulevard and the free-
way except in the southwest quadrant.
As you know, we are continual~y studying
traffic in the light of adjacent development. These
studies have naturally included the planned inter-
change at the intersection of the freeway and Atlantic
Boulevard. If it is indicated that additional ramps
are required, they may be oonstructed as a part of
contracts to be let in the future southerly of
Atlantic Boulevard.
