A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VER.NON
REQUES.TING THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT
TO FURNISH THE CITY OF VERNON WITH GENERAL PLANS:I
SPECIFICATIONS AND ESTIMATED COST FOR HAJNDLlNG ALL OF
THE SEWAGE IN THE CITY OF VERNON NOT NOW HANDLED BY THE
LOS ANGELES COUNTY SANITATION DISTRICT II AND PROVIDING FOR
THE PAYMENT OF THE COST THEREOF.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

WHEREAS$ the City Council of the City of Vernon ts con-
sidering. the advisability of disposing all sewage originating in the City
of Vernon into Los Angeles County Sanitation District No.2; and
WHEREAS. the City Council of the City of Vernon re.quests
the .Los Angeles County Sanitation District No. 2 to furnish general

plans$ s:pecifications and costs of the aforesaid program; and
WHEREAS, it is estimated that $1500.00 will cover the cost
of said work by Los Angeles County Sanitation IHstrict No.2.
NOW~ THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That the City of Yernon hereby requests the
Los Angeles County Sanitation District No. 2 to furnish general plans..
specifications and estimate of cost for including all of the City of Vernon
in Los Angeles County Sanitation District No. 2 and agrees to pay to the
Los Angeles County Sanitation District No.2, when biUeds a sum not
to exceed $1500.00 for said work.
SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter
the same shall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this 2nd day of August, 1955.

Gentlemen:
Enclosed herewith is a map of the City of Vernon colored
to show sewer facilities or lack of such facilities" as follows:
Yellow indicates City of Vernon Sewer District No.1"
which empties into sewers belonging to City of Los Angeles.
Red indicates Los Angeles County Sanitation District No.
1 in the City of Vernon, the sewage fram which is disposed ot by
Los Angeles County.
Green indicates Central Manufacturing District" Inc., the
sewage from which is covered by an agreement between the District
and Loa Angeles County Sanitation District.
Blue indicates the portion of the City of Vernon that is
not covered by any agreement on the part of the City for sewage
disposal, although in part of it there is a County trunk line sewer
and some connecting laterals, all on private property.
This morning a conference was held in the of'tice ot :Mr.
A. M. Rawn, Chief' Engineer and General Manager of' County Sanitation
Districts of Los Angeles County. Present representing the City ot
Vernon were:
Mayor Furlong
City Engineer Phillips
Sanitary Engineer King
There was a discussion as to the possibilities ot having
all sewage fram the City of Vernon accepted by the County. There
was no objection in principal on the part of Mr. Rawn to such a
proposal. In order to determine what is necessary for such an
accomplishment, however, the making of certain maps and estimates
will be required.

Mr. Hawn said that upon formal request from the City of
Vernon his Department will make such investigations as may be deemed
necessary at this t~e, will prepare essential maps and cost
estimates for required trunk line sanitary sewers to conneot with
City of Vernon sewers, so that all City of Vernon sewage can be
delivered to the County. Mr. Hawn says his Department will make
neoessary investigations, maps, and cost estimates and submit same
with his report to City of Vernon at actual cost to the County,
which he estimates to be approximately $1500.00.
If such information is received, the City will then be
in position to know just What monetary outlay will be necessary to
turn the City's sewage over 100% to the County Sanitation Districts
for disposal.- The information which the County has offered to
furnish is essentia.l to begin an evaluation of the sewer problems
now confronting the City. I think the est~ated oost of approxi-
mately $1500.00 is reasonable, and is less than the information
would cost the City through any other souroe.
It is, therefore, my recommendation that the City aooept
this offer by the County and that the Mayor be authorized to so
notify Mr. Hawn in writing.
