DECLARING PREVAILING RATE OF PER DIEM WAGES TO BE USED
FOR THE ADDITION AND ALTERATIONS TO VERNON CITY HALL IN

SECTION 1:
The City Council of the City of Vernon has

ascertained and do.es hereby f1nd and declare that the general prevailing

rate per diem for wages for laborers" workmen and mechanics employed
11
by contractors and sub-contractors. for the doing of any work 8.et forth in
Specifications No. 187, which specifications were duly adopted by the City
Council on October 4, 1955 in Resolution No. 1863, is as follows:
The general prevailing rate or the per diem wages, rates for
Legal HoIida:ysand overtime work, in the locality in which this work is to
he performed. for each craft or type of workman or mechanic needed to
execute the contract. which will be awarded to the successful bidder" is
determined to be as follows:

OVERTIME: Time and one-half for all overtime except Sundays and
holidays, which are double time,. except as covered by
prevailing schedules.
Apprentices: May be employed in conformity with Section 1777.5 of the
California Labor Code.

Shall be paid not less than 25 cents per hour more than the
hourly rate of the highest classification over which he has
supervision.

For any craft not included in the ahove list, the minimum per
diem wages shall be the general prevailing wages for the 10ca:1ity.
The foregoing schedule of per diem wages is ba.sed upon a work-

ing day of eight (8) hours:. The hourly wage rate shall be the per diem
rate divided by the aforemention~d number of hours constituting a working
day.
All others shall be paid at the prevailing wage rates paid in the
County of Los Angeles. Overtime applicable to each classification shan
be paid at the prevaiIingovertime rate in the County of .Los Angeles.
It shall be mandatory upon the Contractor to whom the contract is awarded
and upon any subcontractor under him to pay not less than the specified
rate to all laborers. workmen and mechaniCS employed by them in the
execution of the contract.
SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall
certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter the
same s.hall be in full force and effect.
ADOPTED and APPROVED this: 6th day of October". 1955.
