RESOLUTION NO. 1917
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
3 AMENDING SALARY RESOLUTION NO. 1847 BY ADDING THE POSITION
OFELECTRIGIAN TO WATER DEPARTMENT AND FIXING THE SALARY
4 FOR EACH GRADE.

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLYES AS FOLLOWS:

SECTION 1:
Effective as of Apri1171 19561 the Water
8 Department Salary Scale as set forth in Schedule II page 7 of Resolution
9 No. 1847 is hereby amended by adding thereto the following:

Re: Addition of electrician to
Water Department
To the Honorable City Council:
The City Engineer and the Mayor have discussed the above mat-
ter, and it is my understanding that the Mayor approves of
the Engineer's request to have a full-time electrician em-
ployed by the City Water Department to be available to handle
maintenance problems for all City departments.
The primary reason for hiring this new employee is that our
new Water Department installations contain a considerable
amount of electrically operated remote controls. At the
present time we have no personnel who are trained to handle
this type of maintenance, and the only alternative would be
to attempt to have the problem solved by an independent con-
tractor. The latter method does not appear satisfactory in-
asmuch as there are emergency situations which arise, requir-
ing immediate attention.
The hiring of an electrician will also make it necessary to
acquire certain test equipment, the exact cost of which we
are not yet informed. However, it is felt that the City is
practically without any alternative inasmuch as the above-
mentioned remote control equipment must be serviced.
If the Council approves this request, an amendment to Resolu-
tion 1847, Schedule I, Water Department Salary Scale, as set
forth at pages 7 and 8, would be required, to provide the
following classification:
