I: 32 RESOLUTION NO. 1919 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A REGULAR MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD APRIL 10" 1956. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS: WHEREASI a general municipal election was held in the City of Vernon on Tuesday.. April 10" 19561 for the purpose of electing two (2) members of the City Council.. a City Clerk and a City Treasurer all for the full term of four (4) years; and WHEREASI it appearing that said election was held and con- ducted in accordance with the General Election Laws of the State of California I as far as same were applicable; that the City Council gave such notice of said election as is prescribed by law and appointed a Board of Election.. fixed their compensationl established an election precinct and polling place.. and that said election was held and conducted and votes cast thereat were re- ceived and canvassed and the returns thereon were made in the timel form and manner required by law; and WHEREAS I the City Council of the City of Vernon did meet at their uaual place of meeting on April 171 1956" being the first Tuesday after the said general IIl'.I1JiitniCipal electionl and that at said meeting the said City Council canvassed the votes cast at said general municipal electionl including the absentee ballots. Whereupon it was found that the total number of votes cast in said city was forty-eight (48); that the number of precincts uaed in said election is one (1); That the City Clerk advised the City Council that two (2) absentee ballots were applied for and isaued. That the number of absentee ballots returned is two (2). Thereupon the .signature appearing on the application and the signature appearing on the identification envelope were checked with the signature on the registration certificate .and were in each case found to be identical. The names appearing on the envelopes were audibly announced and no challenge was made. P.oxonl as City Treasurer of the City of Vernon for the full term .of four years; That the City Clerk of the City of Vernon shall immediately sign and deliver to each person elected a certificate of electionl and administer to each person elected the oath of office prescribed by the State Constitution. That said oath shall be subscribed py the officers so electedl and when so subscribed the same shall be filed with the City Clerk of the City of Vernon. The City Clerk is hereby directed to certify to the passage of this resolution and thereupon and thereafter the same shall be in lull force and effect.
