RESOLUTION NO. 1959
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON
AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A CONTRACT WITH MOFFATT &
NICHOL.. INC. ~ CONSULTING ENGINEERS.. FOR THE INVESTIGATION
OF TRAFFIC PROBL.EMS AT DOWNEY ROAD AND THE ATCHISON..
TOPEKA & SANTA FE RAILWAY TRACKS AND THE INTERSECTION OF
DOWNEY ROAD AND WASHINGTON BOULEVARD.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF VERNON RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS~ the City of Vernon received the sum of $5.000.00
from the County of Los Angeles for a preliminary survey and study of
grade separations at 26th Street and Downey Road.. and at Downey Road
and Washington Boulevard; and
WHEREAS. it is necessary to employ Consulting Engineers
to do said work; .and
WHEREAS~ the City Council at its meeting on July 3.. 1956.
instructed Carson B. Hubbard.. City Attorney. and the Engineering Depart-
ment of said City.. to contact the firm of Moffatt & Nichol. Inc... Consulting
Engineers. for the purpose of drafting a contract for the preliminary
survey of grade separations of said streets; and
WHEREAS.. after consultation with the firm of Moffatt & Nichol..
Inc. ~ a contract satisfactory to said firm and approved by the City Attorney
and the Engineering Department of the City of Vernon.. has been worked
out and presented to the Council for its action thereon.
NOW.. THEREFORE~ BE IT RESOLVED:
SECTION 1:
That the Mayor be.. and he is hereby
authorized to enter into a contra.ct for and on behalf of the City of Vernon
with Moffatt & Nichol.. Inc... Consulting Engineers.. for the preparation of a
preliminary survey of gra.de separations at Downey Road.. 26th Street at
Atchison & Topeka Santa Fe Railway tracks. and at Downey Road and
Washington Boulevard.. for a sum not to exceed Five Thousand Dollars
($.5.. 000. 00).
SECTION 2:
The City Clerk of the City of Vernon
shall certify to the passage of this Resolution and thereupon and thereafter
